Hi,

I joined the church in 1975, I am married and have eight children, I love discussing the gospel and the scriptures.

I am a firm believer in these words from Joseph Fielding Smith:

"It makes no difference what is written or what anyone has said, if what has been said is in conflict with what the Lord has revealed, we can set it aside. My words, and the teaching of any other member of the Church, high or low, if they do not square with the revelations, we need not accept them. Let us have this matter clear. We have accepted the four standard works as the measuring yardsticks, or balances, by which we measure every man's doctrine." (Doctrines of Salvation Vol 3.).

And this is my favorite quote:

"Study the word of God, and preach it and not your opinions, for no man's opinion is worth a straw. Advance no principle but what you can prove, for one scriptural proof is worth ten thousand opinions." (History of the Church Vol 3.)

I look forward to many edifying conversations.

Welcome. I'm not a strict literalist when it comes to the scriptures, but I value them for how they teach and how when I read them I feel God's spirit.
