sixpacktr Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 Yesterday, I had my first taste of SC being held in SLC and broadcast to our building. Pres Monson presided, with Elder Eyring and Pres Robert Oaks of the 70, as well as Sister Tanner. What a great conference! It truly was. I was truly touched by the talks and impressed with Pres Monson's "rambling" as it were. He was much more personal, more like sitting and discussing things more. I was impressed how time and again the point kept coming back to prayer, and being diligent in prayer. For those of you that saw it, what did you think? There were 54 stakes and 4 districts participating yesterday they said. With Pres Oaks talk on prayer, he mentioned something I had never thought of before. He mentioned that 1/2 of the Lord's prayer is of praise (thy kingdom come, they will be done, the glory be thine forever, etc) and he challenged us to follow that example. I had never thought of it that way. It sounded (I'm sorry to our non-LDS friends here, I really am, and no offense is intended. REALLY!) almost too "born again". I have never thought of it that way, but when he stated it, I thought, "yeah, I should acknowledge how great HF is and that he is deserving of all praise and glory." The thanks thing I have done in the past, and tried to be more thankful in my approach rather than "gimme, gimme, gimme" all the time. Anyway, I tried being more "praising" this morning during my morning prayer and it was hard. I'm sure it will take time, but I guess with some practice I'll be able to do it easier. Quote
BenRaines Posted May 21, 2007 Report Posted May 21, 2007 We have had two of the broadcast Stake Conferences. I do enjoy them and each time those who spoke had some connection to our area. I think of praise in prayer as thanks also. I think often people forget to be thanful and hurry through their needs and forget thankfullness. Ben Raines Quote
