In an early Thursday morning speech from the University of Utah, Mitt Romney, 2012 GOP Nominee, gave his perspective on the nominating process, devoting much of his time to discussing Donald Trump.

Romney began his speech, given at the Hinckley Institute at the U of U, clarifying that he is not running for president, nor has he decided to endorse a candidate. He said,

I believe with all my heart and soul that we face another time for choosing, one that will have profound consequences for the republican party, and more importantly, for our country.

The former Massachusetts governor promised that if we choose wisely, “America will remain as it is today…the envy of the world.” However, he likewise promised that if the Republican party chooses “Donald Trump for our nominee, the prospect for our future will…strongly diminish,” adding that Trump is not a business genius.

Romney bashed Trump, the current Republican front runner, hoping to put an end to his run for the nomination. Romney stated that “[Trump] has neither the temperament nor the judgement to be president. And his personal qualities would mean that America would cease to be a shining city on a hill.”

Preaching to the choir in Salt Lake City, Utah, Romney stated that “a person so untrustworthy and dishonest as Hilary Clinton must not become president,” but nominating Trump only enables a Clinton victory.

Throughout his speech, Romney referred to Trump as a “fraud” and a “phony” making promises that are as “worthless as a degree from Trump University.”

Romney addressed the way Trump treats others, including how he bases his opinions on people’s appearances, be it women or a disabled reporter. Romney expressed concern for the way Trump tends to act like a third grader, telling those watching to pay attention to the way Trump reacts to Romney’s speech.

Yesterday, when it was announced that Romney would speak, Trump took to Twitter to show his disgust toward Romney, stating that he is a failed candidate who “should have easily beaten Barack Obama.”
