  1. Becides healthy eating a little bit of weight training (3x a week for 20 min is what I do.) helps a lot. Muscle takes more calories to sustain so it helps get your metabolism up and also if you work on muscle it helps burn the fat you want to get rid of. There is more to getting in shape than just losing weight. My main goal I am working on is geting my body fat % down to 24%. :) Hope this helps a bit, lol. I am also using Jan as my main miestone for getting back in shape.
  2. I am here! Sry guys, I took my freedom from classes a little too well and did pretty much nothing for a week, it was kinda nice. :) I am good with reading either book. Although, since MissHalfway is reading the BoM I will start there. I have no idea what Digi-kun is up to though. I will try to bug him about his book choices later today, lol.
  3. Why bother? He wants to poke his eyes out, I say lets watch. :) Anyways, Thanks Mr.Lazy for your post, it was interesting to read. I admit I learned some things. I have been bugging Digi-kun to find our reading material but work keeps us all busy, lol. Alas for being slaves, or so it feels at times.
  4. Up and open. http://www.lds.net/forums/lds-gospel-discussion/13004-thread-mind-expansion-lds-agnostic-thoughts.html#post233350
  5. Hello! I am starting this thread as a continuation of me, DigitalShadow and MissHalfway's challenge of religious readings and the discussions ensuing. This is purely a thread for looking at various religious matterials and sharing one's thoughts. All are welcome to read along and join our discussion, but please remember, THIS IS NOT A CONVERSION THREAD! Could those who post please follow topic and not simply dwell on a bias or try to be singularly preachy^_^? This thread is to look at various pools of thought in an attempt to think more openly and to then discuss our findings. Sorry to be snarly. May the pool party begin! Challenge! DigitalShadow is to read the LDS scriptures, not sure if all or just BofM through D&C. Me and MissHalfway in return will read various agnostic and scientific literature presented by DigitalShadow. Book List will be posted here. Pretty much, we figured that if we are trying to teach someone, we should also play fair and also look at the opposing views. Becides, isn't it always interesting to see where other people are coming from? Afterall, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
  6. Oh, I totally agree with the chocolate, although, I already have another large form of bribery that Digi-kun can hold over my head. Hehe, yay for impatience and a love of new toys. As for new thread... Should I set it up as "the thread for mind expansion on lds and agnostic thoughts?" lol, sounds techie. If either of you wanna start the new thread that totally works as well.
  7. MissHalfway and Digi-Kun, I love you both! You are always so fun to read. And as for your comment to push our dear DS into the pool MissHalfway, I will just sit and grin. For you Digi-kun, I will hold you to that promise of reading the scriptures (I do know where you live. ) and will also go in with MissHalfway and read your choice of books.
  8. I figure everyone has different things in their life to deal with. To me, 30 min a day on the computer is a death sentance, but I am a game artist and going to school online, therefore the computer is an essential tool. If this was not the case I could see limiting the time on the computer. I compare it to limiting time watching tv or other leisure activities. if MormonGirl02 is anything like me, limiting time wasting is probably good for re-directing focus. Keep it up MormonGirl02
  9. Gamedev.net is a great place, lol. Our group is actually working on a space game for GDC 09. Simple now, but we hope to expand and actually make something of it.
  10. Lol, how did you guess? We are working on it, that is actually how we met in a way. He needed an art person and I stole his seat in class. But we are working with some friends to try making a game. :)
  11. Hey Digi-kun, I like the link on Pascal's Wager. I have actually never read that before. Rural- True, using the wager is a shallow reason for believing something, yet it is still interesting to look at.
  12. I can agree with you. Both my parents were teachers and I grew up hearing every injustice the education system caused and how worthless public education was. I hated school, it was boring, worthless and convinced me of the stupidity opeople can reach at times. (I hated school cliques.) The only reason I stayed in school was because the same parents decreed it was good for me. I admit I learned a lot about manipulation. I always skipped classes and somehow kept a 3.7 GPA to appease my parents, lol. I did however discover a love of stories and drawing. What else was there to do in class? I am now working on becoming a game artist, I guess school did have a purpose. P.S. My only detention, and pink slip from school was once in elementary when I shared half my snickers (mom packed lunch) with a friend outside. Get that. The reasoning was I shouldn't make other feel bad by what I was given and thy weren't.
  13. Just my random 2 cents on the OT, but here is how I see it (No laughing at me Digi-kun). Science is the process of finding truth and nothing in science is fact, only theory to be further studied. The LDS faith is based upon becoming closer to god and understanding him through study, prayer and constant searching. It is all a constant quest to see how everything works and the ways they fit together. I find all these puzzles to be intriguing, even if trying to banter out what ifs gets quite infuriating. After all, God doesn't reveal all and science cannot prove all, so we all get to infer in our own way according to what we learn. It all seems to mesh pretty well. :) To go with the original dilemma of how to deal with conflicting thoughts, I cannot give any specifics, heaven knows I am very lacking in answers and knowlege, just keep searching for truth. Sometimes it feels like fighting through a maelstrom, but giving up with just get you tossed around even worse.
  14. I figured I should quit lerking and actualy post something. I actually found this site through my husband who is investigating the LDS faith. Our history- One day he met a cute LDS girl (his words, lol), we decided we were ment to be together and then got married. Now she drags him to church and says look at all this, cool huh? I am a game concept artist in training married to a code ninja, computers are life and cables running all over the house are decor. As for finding this place, I was looking for something to show my husband regarding a question he had asked me and actualy found some of his posts on here. After that I just started floating around and reading, now I am here quite often. I guess I have to thank my guy for questioning everything. He is very scientific minded and is constantly making me think and learn, lol. (P.S. No I did not do my avi pic, it is my inspiration to work on shading more, lol. One day I will use my own work. :) )
