  1. Hey Y'all, The commercial is here. Kirby discusses his choice to be in the commercial here. You may be surprised to know that the other guy in the video probably wasn't really a friend of Kirby's but may have been an actor, and all those people at the party were probably actors just pretending to be at a party. I have my suspicions that the whole thing was fake. If anything, non-LDS should be protesting that an actor was used in a beer commercial who doesn't actually drink beer. When they show him picking up the beer from the cooler at the end of the commercial, my natural assumption was that it would soon be broken over someone's head. Frankly, I'm not sure what is wrong with him being in the commercial. I've never been taught in Church that I shouldn't be in beer commercials. I've worked at restaurants where I had to serve alcohol. I've worked in retail where I had to sell alcohol and cigarettes. I've known several LDS businessmen or stockholders who profited handsomely from the sale of coffee, alcohol, cigarettes, or pornography in their businesses, and it didn't seem to stop them from going to the Temple, or being called to serve in leadership positions. No one ever expressed the slightest reservations about my job unless I had to work on Sunday. I could see the problem if Kirby identified himself on camera and endorsed the product. But he is an actor, and playing a "character" in the commercial. That's what actors do. They pretend as if they were someone else, and they say the words or do the actions that the director tells them to. If that is too confusing, Ian McKellan gives an introduction to acting on YouTube here. I'm glad Kirby has found work; most actors in LA don't. I hope the beer money comes in big and lasts a long time.
