  1. Hi Maxel,Please never stop answering questions. These people may post, purely for the purpose of pulling down the church, But i read all your replies and always find them uplifting and faith building. I myself sometimes have really difficult questions and i ask them here. Ive asked about things like garments and sexual practices. Although the later was moved to a part of the site i cant access, so dont know if it ever got answered. The point im making is, not everyone who asks what may appear to be anti-mormon questions, is anti-mormon. I am an ex-communicated member who still loves the church. I come here to be uplifted and to help build my faith again. I cant get to church for this until April, so this is my only means of fellowship. If i was banned from this site because of my strange questions, i would have no where to find this fellowship. Yes i may upset people sometimes, who take my questions to be trolling, but if truth be told, i need this site and its members. At least till April. I know im repeating myself, But its members like you Maxel, that do so much to bring the spirit of truth to myself and these misguided ones. I thank you for that. John
  2. I feel that although i would have many questions about doctrine, i probably wouldnt ask many. I like most here, would be more interested in the man himself and his life. I would like him to simply speak about whatever was on his mind at that moment and just listen and watch him as he spoke. His facual features, his body language, stuff like that. These are things i would find far more interesting.
  3. Maxel, I dont believe Jobiwon is interested in truth. He seems only interested in his own voice. Even though this thread was started, purely to put down the church, it has had the opposite effect for me. Thanks mostly to you Maxel. Your explanation of context is one ive heard before, in relation to 'The book of revolations'. It helped me then to understand it and to see things i never did before. Unfortunatly, some people cant see the sphere for the circle, they see on this piece of paper we call existance.
  4. Ive never seen it. Is it online? I will try a google search.Ok, I just googled it. He is rather handsome huh? I still think the paintings are slightly romanticised, but i agree that the man in the photo, looks nothing like the death mask.
  5. It doesnt look like the paintings of him, But paintings are not always exact, most seem to be done, to flatter the sitter or the commissioners romantic view of the person being painted. You must admit, that the paintings and sculptures of the prophet, do seem to have an air of the romantic hero about them. Im an artist myself, so i recognise the styling. I would love to see an actual photo of him. You know? Warts and all. And no, im not suggesting the prophet had warts. :)
  6. Sorry, i guess i got excited when i saw it and wanted someone to tell me it was real. I really should have checked for a thread on this, before creating a new one.
  7. Ive seen this pic a few times on the web and have read that it is supposed to be the Prophet Joseph Smith. Is it really him? Thanks
  8. Im sorry, but what is Adam-ondi-ahman?
  9. If only it did. Im so going to have to clean up my act. On a serious note. At the moment ive got a job where im working non-stop from Friday night till Monday morning. What that means is that i cant get to church right now. As an excommunicated member, its part of my repentance to go every week. My wife and i have quite a bit of debt at the moment, which is why im doing this job. Here's the good news. We will be debt free by the end of march. We also have been saving at the same time, so as well as being debt free, we will also have a healthy bank balance. We have made a promise, never to get into debt ever again. What this means is, i can quit this job and get one where i can go to church each week. So i really am getting on the right track, even if i make fun. This is something im so looking forward too. I miss church and cant wait to get on and get all my blessings back. Im also looking forward to spending alot more time with my kids. We are going to have a special family day each week. Which will include family home evening. My wife and i are also going to have a special day each week for just us. It will basicly be date night. We hav'nt been out together properly now for over a year and a half, so thats something we are both looking forward to very much. We are also planning on going swimming everyday together, while the kids are at school. Sorry, kinda went off topic there. Well not really, as its all about preparing for that special day. I dont believe i or anyone will be truely ready, but at least he will see that we are trying our best.
  10. Well if someone in Heaven could maybe give me a call on the phone about a year before it happens, that would be great. That way when it happens, i will be all upright and worthy. Thats if they dont mind.
  11. Its just that im a bit of a sinner and was hoping i didnt have to do all that goody goody stuff till the last minute. I guess i have to be good all the time then. Boy is this going to be hard.
  12. Simply question really. When does the church believe it will happen? I understand that Jesus said, that none shall know the time, but im sure the Prophet must know. Im sure also that this question has been asked a million times already, But its something ive always wondered. Also, i wonder how those churches that preached that he would come on the millenium feel now? I know its nasty, but i keep getting the image of them all sitting there waiting for it to happen, then nothing. They all turn to the preacher expecting an answer. Poor guy. lol.
  13. I agree completely. Budda was a wise teacher and must have been guided by God, for the benefit of all mankind. Just like any other Prophet. Was Jesus a student of Buddhism? Maybe. As well as being the Son of God, he was also a wise man. Would it not be wise to seek out the teachings of other wise men and Prophets? I would not be surprised if he did.I have alot of love for my fellow seekers of wisdom in the Buddist faith and will always listen to good lessons, that further my own understanding of my Heavenly Father and his Son, Jesus Christ. Lessons that will one day, give me a small measure of the great wisdom the Budda and other Prophets had. Thank you for your wonderful post. Im sure you will have helped some of us gain in our search of that wisdom.
  14. How much it costs, is not my concern, only my friends safety. As long as she knows what day the passport is coming, she should be able to get to it, before one of his boys. She has no young children. She is quite an old lady. Thank you for the links DeborahC. I will check those out now.
  15. She has a mental health problem, that makes it hard for her to trust anyone. She needs a person she knows to support her. She cant cope with strangers. Even ones who have her best interest at heart. She is very controlled. Her partner has alot of contacts in the US that are not good people. I'd rather not say anymore. Suffice to say, her partner is the cause of most of her issues. I will also be in danger when im there, which is another reason i want to get it done quick. I will need all of Heavenly Fathers help with this.
  16. I have an American friend who wishes to get a passport. The problem is, is that they are in an abusive relationship and there partner will not let them get one. They have asked me to help, but im stuck as to what exactly i can do. Ive suggested they go visit there parents and i can come over and take them to get the passport, but i dont know if they will need to go to an interview or if filling in the forms and sending the pics and money is enough. I dont have endless money, so i cant go over for more than a week. There family dont know about the abuse and they are to scared of there partner to tell them. They basicly need to get out of the country, before they will be safe. Please trust me on this. My friend is in very real danger and needs a passport fast. I know it takes a month from filing, for the passport to come through, but what im asking is, can we do all the things they need within a week? Also, can the passport be sent to a differant address, than there own. As if there partner see's it, my friend will be in alot of trouble. Thanks
  17. I noticed that too. It may have been writen in a very flowery way, but the message was the same. I agree with some of what he says though. When Jesus comes, ALOT of people are in deep brown.
  18. Whats a Jack Mormon?
  19. If you could have 1 famous person convert to the church, who would it be and why? For me it would be Patrick Stewart. He just has such an air about him, he would be a great asset to the church and its growth. So come on guys, who would you pick and why? The famous person doesnt have to be alive, so feel free to choose anyone.
  20. Hi Elli, Welcome to the site. Its always great to see a fellow Scot on here.
  21. Thanks. The websites were helpful. Unfortunitly they dont go back far enough, but thats ok.
  22. It would have been around 1995/1996 i think. Im not sure if its a good idea to say there names on here, as its public, but they spent quite alot of there mission together.
  23. Thank you very much. Im searching in the Edinburgh Scotland mission.
  24. I know ive probably asked this in the wrong forum, but im looking to get hold of the Sister Missionaries, that converted me to the church. Ive got no idea where to find them or how. If anyone can help, that would be great. Thanks
  25. Ok, well my question has been answered. I really didnt mean to offend. If this could be closed now, i would be very greatful. Sorry wordFLOOD. My title was intended to be funny. My humour is a little to insensitive for my own good. Sorry again. Please dont leave because of me, im not worth that. Ive learned alot in my short time here and have been very greatful for all the help. I wish you all the best. With love, John(Lost_one)
