  1. Not looking forward to Feb of next year are you?

After Super Bowl Sunday, the TV prospects are so bleak that I've tried to find out where and when my ward meetings are so I can attend. Usually by the time I do find out, it's NBA playoff time and I put off my attempted attendance until after the next Super Bowl.
  2. Second season was silly, particularly for those of us here in UT. The writers were too lazy even to look at maps and the various characters were taking stupid to impossible routes to get here. They were calling it TOO-lee for a couple of episodes and when they got there, NO MOUNTAINS. Their depiction of Blanding (or was it Monticello) was beyond laughable.

Third season was just a dead loss, I thought.

But, hey, I've got to see Sara (and Sarah) back. Sarah was off having a baby between the second and third seasons and they told her she could come back and then double-crossed her by not picking up her contract, which they had promised. Don't know if it was angry fans like me or something else, but having killed her off at the beginning of season three, I'm curious how they're going to bring her back.

And, my original point, this past Monday and this coming Monday it looks like the best bet for me and my two-bit antenna.

  3. When I saw the title, I also thought the topic would have something to do with all the grumpy threads going on (e.g. Chinese Olympics).

Re-reading the thread has got me thinking liquid detergents. I'm going to give them a try next time around (my laundry cycle is longer than most, I expect).

  4. Odors are about the strongest triggers known for memories.

I like things that have no added fragrances (or smells, as I call them). What's strange is that making something without fragrance seems to cost more than throwing something stinky in there.

I avoid doing excessive laundry through the simple expedient of not wearing clothes. I buy whatever detergent is on sale when I need to buy some.

  5. It has always struck me as strange that one of the casualties of the flood was the very wood of which the arc was built. We never hear of it in the Bible after Noah's flood (or before, actually).

The olive tree came through fine (as we know from the dove incident) but the gopher wood tree perished.

If you go to your local lumberyard and ask for gopher wood today, they'll think you're on a fool's errand (i.e. Go for wood).

  6. First, apologies to ldsmissionary for hijacking his welcome thread.

But this is an illustration of one of my great attractions to this site: there are people here who can not only "get" my humor, but not be offended by it.

    (Apologies to the other people.)

  7. Now that is a hit below the belt.

Wish I could restrain myself from saying "You've got the location right." (and even more keep from explaining that that's where I think the location of much belief in polygamy is to be found). But I'm weak today.:(
  8. "Kill them all, and let God sort them out."

Sort of the informal motto of all the crusades. Amazing how long that idea (if not that motto) has persisted.

Apologies to Kapeenee for hijacking this thread.

  9. Captain you are the joker today aren't you? lol

True. But my parents thought something like that had happened. As I've said elsewhere, my being so weird (maybe different might be a better term) did strengthen their testimonies of the pre-existence.
  10. I was "The One" for at least four different coeds. And they know - it was revealed to them!

Just shows that polygamy is still a correct principle;) If you'd been Brigham Young instead of just being at his university, you could have married the lot.
  11. The interesting thing about the First Crusade is that the crusaders killed far more Christians than Muslims. Once they got beyond Constantinople they assumed everyone must be a Muslim, so they killed everyone they could. When the crusaders did catch up with the Muslims, who were armed, they pretty much took it in the neck. Unfortunately, Peter the Hermit escaped (if he was, in fact, there) to promote future crusades.

And welcome, Kapeenee, although I'm sure you were here before me. I'm an addict, too. But I'm working on it.

  12. The one you posted here had me laughing out loud.

Of course, I missed the original "Johnny Lingo" film and first learned of it from "Saturday's Voyeur." But SV got me to my local library where "Johnny Lingo" and a couple of other gems from that genre were waiting for me.

Don't worry about drawing like a fourth grader. Drawing like a second grader never stopped Scott Adams.

  13. I hope pale plays!

Here's a thought: why not send a private message to all of your friends you'd like to see play (friends in the general sense).

I'm looking at all my friends now. (won't take long)

  14. I believe the music in that scene is Carmina Burana by Orff. Get that on CD and you can be enlightened any time you want.

    :)

    michaela

Don't read the lyrics. They're somewhat racy. But mostly in Latin.

This has been one of my favorite bits of music -- all of it -- since I was in college. There are many excellent pieces beyond "Ay, Fortuna."

  15. Hi all,

I've got the LDS.net.NFL private group set up on UtahFantasySports (aka the Trib and the DNews). Click here and you'll go to the site where you can login or register.

Once you're registered, send me a message and I'll message back the group name (it's LDS.net.NFL) and the password (hint, if you want to try without the message: who is a mutual friend here on the forum of ALL of us? OK, her name all in lower case).

    Naturally,

    R.O.

PS. There were 6 charter members to whom I have sent the password.
