  1. Definitely a highlight from yesterday's conference. http://ldsapostlesighting.blogspot.com
  2. So did anyone else notice, that right before Pres. Hinckley stood up tonight, there was a lady that stood up from the front row, started yelling something, and church security pounced on her? What was the deal? Does anyone have any further information? Was anyone there live and see this?
  3. Ok. That's a bit of a stretch, have triplet girls, that all have triplets themselves by age 18... :)
  4. I could have swore I posted this before... but is it possible they had twins...or a couple of babies a year apart? If he got of his mission and got married at 21... 20 years of having kids can produce a lot of kids... believe me... I had 17 pregnancies during my 20 years... had 9 babies... ← I agree that one can have 9 babies in 20 years. But I don't see how its possible to start having kids at 21, and then have 9 GRANDCHILDREN by age 42. Even if you have 4 kids by age 25 (one per year after mission), each of these kids would have to start VERY early (and often) to have 9 grandchildren by age 42.
  5. Elders Neil L. Andersen and Ronald A. Rasband were sustained Saturday afternoon as new members of the Presidency of the Seventy of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Their appointments had been announced by the First Presidency in June. ........... Elder Rasband, 42, was called to the Seventy in April 2000. He supervises the North America West and North America Northwest areas. He was an executive director of the Temple Department, president of the Utah Salt Lake City Area and a counselor in the Europe Central Area. From 1996-99 he presided over the New York New York North Mission. He was born in Salt Lake City and attended the University of Utah. He received an honorary doctorate of business and commerce from Utah Valley State College. He and his wife, Melanie, have five children and nine grandchildren. ------------------------- According to my math, that's mission president at age 33, general authority at age 37, and presidency of the seventy at 42. And by the way, is it even physically possible to have 9 grandchildren by age 42????? Source: http://deseretnews.com/dn/view/0,1249,615154764,00.html
  6. I was in no way inferring that people of other faiths were not participating/helping. However, if you are not part of an organized group, you were not let in Waveland (unless you want to risk running past the guys in camo with big guns). I was just stating that it is so nice that the church is able to organize this for us, so that we can participate in such meaningful service. Yes, there were other faiths there helping as well.
  7. No. If you buy them off of smugmug, smugmug gets all the money. Feel free to buy prints if you want.
  8. I've been asked to give more information regarding the Katrina cleanup. Our Stake (the Beaumont, TX Stake) was asked to go to Waveland, MS the weekend before last. We got on two busses, with approximately 150 men from the stake, at about midnight on Friday night. We drove all night and arrive about 5:30 on Saturday morning. We set up camp (which consisted of tents), ate breakfast and began working around 8:30 a.m. on Saturday. As you can tell, much of the work was cutting up trees that had fallen on people's houses. We also tore out possessions from the homes that were flooded. This included couches, carpet, flooded sheet rock, books, clothes, etc. We worked Saturday until 6:00. We would have tried to work until dark, but the military had put together a 6:00 curfew. Sunday morning, we ate and went to sacrament meeting at the Waveland building. There was about 3 feet of water that had entered the building, but it had all cleared out by then. The local members (those that had not left town forever) and all the workers went to church. First time ever I went to church in Levi's and a t-shirt. But all 300 volunteers (which included several other stakes that had joined with us) did the same. We just had one hour of church and worked until about 3:30. We then packed up camp, got on the bus and drove home. We arrived home around 10:00. Although 150 men from our stake worked pretty hard for a couple days, we didn't really seem to make a dent in the overall destruction. There is just so much more to be done. But I will say that the members and non-members that we helped sure were grateful. Here is a link to the photos again. If you have any questions, let me know. No, we did not have any electricity, there was no running water, no showers, and no porta-potties. :) Just lots of trips to the woods. :) Craig http://craighall.smugmug.com
