  1. That is one of the most vivid depictions of afterlife that touch me. When I read his description of the hell that he suffered and could but only cry out that Jesus would save him gives me the shivers. Imagine having to suffer that for an extended period of time. I pray all will accept the mercies of the atonement.
  2. We believe that there is one God the Father, One Jesus Christ and Holy Ghost. Anything beyond that is not introduced in detail by revelation to his church.
  3. My point was that it is not necessary to know the origin of God or he would have revealed it too us. He has declared that following his Only Begotten son is the only way to return to him.
  4. Ask the questions that will give you a testimony of faith. Then you will receive answers to the questions that develop knowledge. Mahonri seems to be questioning his faith in the truthfulness of the Gospel. There are a lot of things I do not know about the church history, but I do know that the Book of Mormon is the word of God which makes Joseph Smith his Prophet. After that I learn line upon line, foundation upon foundation.
  5. Let him Know that the Book of Mormon is a witness of Christ. Do a Topical Guide scripture search with him and then have him cross reference with the Bible. (with JST of course) so he can see that we live our lives in the service of Christ. It is such a wonderful message I am sure he will receive a witness.
  6. There is no direct revelation as to the beginning of God. There is reference to the point that God must have gone through the same experience as Christ had. What is the quote? As God is so can man be, as man is so God once was? Other than that, this question is purely academic. Not necessary to know for salvation.
  7. the laws given to us from God are laws that have eternal consequences, though I suspect they are minor compared to the laws that we must obey in a Celestial setting.
  8. The answer is yes, though I don't think there will be actual fire. If we are to deny the Christ after having been taught the full gospel of Christ then we will have to suffer for our own sins. That is hell! After we have suffered for our own sins then we will be able to receive the telestial glory promised to us before we came to earth.
  9. good call!
  10. So if I understand correctly, You are referring to someone whom you know personally on this site that you can identify as for sure it is this actual person. Then you say he/she has been convicted of a crime. And then you know that he/she has not repented of this sin and is in fact now trying to be a better person by congregating with fellow LDS members around the world. You say that you are uncomfortable with this person being online. This is called judgment. This person is going to live their life as they see fit. I suggest you do the same. I am surrounded in this church by people who can't let the sins of others go. Especially the small ones. (not suggesting that this crime is small.) The idea that you wouldn't be able to interact with the good people on this site because of another person on this site tells me more about you that the other person. (read prodigal son). You can't let the actions of others allow yourself to be poisoned with the pride of judgment. That is Satan's greatest tool. If he can get us to look at others instead of our own. From your statement this person is already convicted of a crime. Unless this person is now trying to commit another I would ignore them. If you have some proof that this person is doing something inappropriate at home or church go to the authorities, but this sounds liike a case of "I can't believe this" scenario. Most of the comments on this post surprised me. Calling cops, identifying someone for allegedly no being themselves? uh hummm. Kind of scary. No one on this page is using their real name. I doubt a lot of you would want to be exposed because someone else thinks you should be on here. Just some thoughts.
