  1. Hey guys... It is indeed a great thing that a woman offered the prayer. I love that. We have women offer prayers all the time in our church. ADoyle, I appreciate your comment. My issue is the fact that she's a "presiding bishop"... Our church (which I consider the true church of Jesus Christ today) would have her HUSBAND be the presiding bishop, because we believe we have a heavenly FATHER and all of the profets and bishops and priests have always been MALES, not FEMALES. Male and female form a cohesive unit in matrimony and are equal in this sense. I don't know why it's this way, but I know that it is how it has been from the beginning.
  2. Hey Moksha, I'm not sure what you mean by your comment. I don't know you well enough to tell whether you agree or disagree with me. Hard to tell somebody's tone when just reading. Maybe I'm too young to know Archie Bunker and his spirit... sorry
  3. Uchtdorf is for all practical purposes a "head honcho"... I mean, he is also a profet, seer, and revelator. That's a lot more than many of us will ever be on this earth. After seeing that only "mainstream" religions got to play a significant role in the Prayer Service, I'm not surprised to see Ballard and Uchtdorf there instead of Monson. If a prayer was to actually be offered, it might be different. I can't believe they let a female "minister" give the main prayer. That is just not even biblical. I guess I'd be considered a chauvinist for saying that today... At least we know our church has the true authority to act in the name of Jesus Christ.
  4. EVERY guy is a "priest." The leader is a bishop, even though he is also a "priest" (he's a guy!!!!). I'm thankful that the church has been restored on the earth, as it was in biblical times.
  5. I'll support you, Mumoal... Just let me know of anything you need! (From San Diego, CA...) Get the missionaries to visit your house. Invite them for dinner... They'd appreciate it, and your family will, too.
  6. I love cats but can't be around them too long or I start sneezing a lot. Specially the big furry ones... There are countless people who owe it to one persistent individual that stuck with them and revived or enrolled them, church-wise. I say every member of the church should longsufferingly stay with nonmember friends until they are prepared to hear the gospel. Glad that's what so many people do.
  7. Hey Jilly, Sorry to hear about that. I have found that LDS bishops are usually very helpful with many of these issues. After all, it's their appointed job... Did you get married in a temple? How long ago? Any kids?
  8. Hi. I liked Twilight. Fun movie to watch. Where do you live, evsis? I'm in San Diego, CA
  9. Southern California, EH??? I live in north San Diego! It sure took me a while to join one of these things! This forum looks really nice! There is so much going on on the page, though, that it'll take time to get acquainted with everything...
  10. Hey Swiftfox! Congrats on your baby! You know, it took me at least 6 yrs to finally join the church, also thanks to an insistent girl (I'm not married yet). I also grew up Catholic. I felt being Catholic was more about identity than about religious beliefs. I never exactly understood what it was that I was supposed to believe. I just knew I was "Catholic" The LDS church is so well-organized that everyone knows exactly what they need to do and they truly feel like a close ward family.
  11. Hi Pan So you live in ConneCticut? I'm in sunny San Diego, CA I just joined yesterday. You can add me as a friend and I'll do the same, that way we can be LDS online buddies!!!!
  12. The Ex-LDS guy's post was interesting. The one thing that I notice in "Ex-LDS" posting is that they are very wordy (i.e. boring to read)... They have very convoluted ways of thinking that (to me) clearly shows how Satan is trying to confuse them into darkness. Enough of that... Welcome! I'm new here, too!
  13. Well, I'm not in Italy, but you can "cummunicate" with me here in San Diego, CA...!! I've been to Germany before. Where in Germany are you going? It's all beautiful, but I especially like Bavaria and the Alps... Same with Northern Italy.
  14. Hey Wyvern, Do you know where you are serving yet?
