To use your analogy Halley - We aren't saying we want to stop the hooker hooking in New York to support her drug habit. We are just saying we don't really want her coming into our church to get us strung up on some smack and see if we would start working the streets with her.

Or maybe with her coming in there instead of her being a bad example maybe you'd be a better one. If someone never feels excepted they will go the first place anyone "pretends" to care whether it's the streets or a church. Maybe these born agains will rub off on peeps or better yet maybe the church will rub off on the or amazingly enough maybe they will coexist and act semi normal and help eachother.

    Here's a good policy:

Never be alone with a member of the opposite sex (other than your spouse). My wife and I agreed to this when we were married and have adhered to it very closely. If a couple follows this policy they keep themselves from situations in which they may compromise their marriage vows.

If you can't be alone with the opposite sex w/o temptation or trusting your signifigant other you shouldn't be together. Marriage is based on both love AND trust. If you don't have that than you don't have much of a relationship.

  3. I don't mean to be rude but what right do we have to judge anyone based on the title they use? "Born again Mormon","LDS",... I mean come on,this sounds like some silly "telephone" game like we played in grade school. Who cares if someone challenges a faith when that is done and they are proved wrong doesn't that build UP the basis of the church not tear it down? You walk in New York and go to 42nd street, you see a hooker,is she a bad person because she's a hooker? Maybe she's trying to survive and doing what she knows. Maybe these groups preach what they know. Think about it,if faith isn't challenged than you can't grow in it. I say bring on every religion, learn the facts and in that plant a seed that just might grow instead of running away from someone who is different or in a different "group" such as these Born Again Mormons. So come on,let's chill and see how it plays out.

  4. Visiting Teaching Message

Feeling the Love of the Lord through Exercising Faith

    Ensign, February 2004

Prayerfully select and read from this message the scriptures and teachings that meet the needs of the sisters you visit. Share your experiences and testimony. Invite those you teach to do the same.

How Can We Access the Power of Faith?

Alma 32:28: "If ye give place, that a seed may be planted in your heart, behold, . . . ye will begin to say within yourselves—It must needs be that this is a good seed . . . for it beginneth to enlarge my soul; yea, it beginneth to enlighten my understanding, yea, it beginneth to be delicious to me."

Elder Joseph B. Wirthlin of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: "Faith exists when absolute confidence in that which we cannot see combines with action that is in absolute conformity to the will of our Heavenly Father. . . . Only when our faith is aligned with the will of our Heavenly Father will we be empowered to receive the blessings we seek" ("Shall He Find Faith on the Earth?" Liahona and Ensign, Nov. 2002, 83–84).

Elder Dallin H. Oaks of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: "The exercise of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ is always subject to the order of heaven, to the goodness and will and wisdom and timing of the Lord. That is why we cannot have true faith in the Lord without also having complete trust in the Lord's will and in the Lord's timing" ("Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ," Ensign, May 1994, 100).

Eliza R. Snow (1804–87), former Relief Society general president: "Faith [is] energy. . . . We must be energetic" (as reported in Morgan Utah Stake Relief Society Minutes and Record, 29 July 1882).

In What Ways Can We Experience the Lord's Love through Faith?

Helaman 5:47: "Peace, peace be unto you, because of your faith."

Bonnie D. Parkin, Relief Society general president: "As we exercise faith in the Lord, we learn to trust that His promises to us will be fulfilled. We have confidence that we will not be left alone, for the Lord will be our source of strength. His peace that passeth understanding will fill our souls. Sisters, seek faith in the Savior first."

Elder Richard G. Scott of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: "Don't look for a life virtually free from discomfort, pain, pressure, challenge, or grief, for those are the tools a loving Father uses to stimulate our personal growth and understanding. As the scriptures repeatedly affirm, you will be helped as you exercise faith in Jesus Christ. . . . Faith in Christ means we trust Him; we trust His teachings. That leads to hope, and hope brings charity, the pure love of Christ—that peaceful feeling that comes when we sense His concern, His love, and His capacity to cure us or to ease our burdens with His healing power" ("To Be Healed," Ensign, May 1994, 8).

Elder Neal A. Maxwell of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles: "We can say: 'I know that [God] loveth his children; nevertheless, I do not know the meaning of all things' (1 Nephi 11:17). There have been and will be times in each of our lives when such faith must be the bottom line: We don't know what is happening to us or around us, but we know that God loves us, and knowing that, for the moment, is enough" ( "Not My Will, But Thine" [1988], 119).

  5. On a softer note I guess,lol... Guys aren't all sneaks and girls aren't all snakes. I guess all you can do is trust him and watch out for her but give her the benefit of the doubt, not everyone acts solely on human nature. I guess the reason for my change of heart is my boyfriend. He will be going out with some female friends and I asked him if I had anything to worry about and he told me,"I'm not marrying them and I don't love them but I do love you" and I believe him and I know God will look out for me when it comes to this man that has my heart, just as He will look out for you.

  6. If you go to a pound you see all kinds of animals, cats, dogs, heck even horses. Some people would say hey look at the cute puppy but just as people they are different. They can be different breeds, mixes, colors, personalities,no two are alike so even though we categorize them as JUST dogs they are more than that,we do the same with people. I joke around and say at times well it's a man thing and I'm wrong in that because not ALL men do the same thing. We shouldn't categorize or generalize even though we do,it is neither right nor fair.

Maybe I am non repentant; therefore sinful. Being sinful I desreve these trials?

I think believing that your getting hurt in life because your "bad" is crap. The whole world is bad because right now it's run by Satan. In the Bible Satan offered Jesus all the kingdoms of the world if he bowed down before him and in the Bible it clearly states he could not offer it if he did not have it. It isn't about being good or bad, that isn't why were caused pain, were caused pain because of the world we live in,we do however have the oppotunity to choose how we REACT to the trials in our life. That is on us.

Human Sacrifice has always been a fascinating but repulsive topic to me. I've felt grateful that I don't worship a God who requires it. Or does He? The Old Testament contains several instances where the Israelites are commanded (supposedly by God) to forcibly take cities and destroy all of their inhabitants including innocent children and babies. I don't believe believe this for several reasons, but to those on the board who literally believe the Old Testament stories: How do you reconcile this in your minds? Think of your own babies first. If the prophet were to say to us that the Lord has commanded us to take a sword and kill all of the people (including the babies) of, say, Prescott Arizona, would you be able to do it? Yes, the world was different back then and I can imagine scenarios where I may be able to kill another adult for one reason or another, but never, ever, an innocent child.

Now if it was a relative not a problem but a child,no way...

  11. I've had crushes on guys I shouldn't have and the tell tale for all their girls was how easy I was around the guys and how UNEASY i suddenly became when they came in the room,it's called a guilty conscience. Maybe your guy isn't aware of it,she may not even aware of how she feels but you should talk to him and if that doesn't work, talk to her. Only way to keep a woman's claws out of a man is to have your claws to deep into him for her to move them out.
