  1. Ahlan, all! My name is Dr. Mauri Collins and I will start work in Buraydah, Al-Qassim province, Saudi Arabia, on December 18 - which means I am repacking my bags for the 15th time to try to get them down under the British Airway's weight limit! I am an instructional designer and faculty development specialist and I will be working exclusively with the Ladies on the university faculty. I have been out of work since August 2009 so was thrilled when I was offered this job. I had prayed for a year to find out what Father had in mind for me next, and as soon as I was offered this job, it was as if a door opened and there was my path. All I had to do was set my feet on it and walk. All the little tragedies I have suffered over the past year I could finally see were preparing me - freeing me up - so I could go when I was "called" (not officially, but in my heart). And I recently received a blessing that told me that this was indeed where I needed to be and what Father wanted for me. That has helped me find the courage to step out into the unknown and leave my mother and my children here in Las Vegas. If you have lived or worked recently in Saudi Arabia, I would love to hear about your experiences - I have a lot to learn and a lot of questions. I will be there soon, insha' Allah! (a very handy phrase I have learned) I also have a blog at menody.net where I am writing about my experiences - still in the frantic "getting ready to go" stages!
  2. Thank you Sean1427 for your most helpful information. I start work in Buraydah on December 18, 2010 and was wondering if there were any LDS folks in the area. I will be new to the country and I am sure drowning in culture shock for a while - including wearing niqab, hijab and abaya!
