  1. Right, there are various reasons that they do not want to consider us Christians. But that is one that I have heard multiple times. If you think about the other side of our "families can be together forever" teaching, isn't it true that this means some families can't? Families can only be together in the celestial kingdom Doesn't that mean that other families will be separated in other kingdoms and won't actually be a family unite? This will actually be the case for a huge portion of humanity if the okay families that will exist and be together are the ones who have done the correct LDS ordinances
  2. I know the mainstream LDS church has no control over the FLDS. However, we are cut from the same cloth. They believe in many of the same things we do. The Book of Mormon, D&C, teachings of early prophets, etc. are all part of their theology. How could we deny that they are also Mormons? it is similar to mainstream Christians trying to say we are not Christians. No one group owns the word Christian. I dit believe it's fair to say we own the word Mormon. There are many branches of Mormonism and the FLDS are indeed Mormons. Thoughts?
  3. This is part of why many Christians don't consider Mormons Christian. They feel the power of Christ's atonement is diminished when us being reunited with Christ again relies on us being LDS and undergoing specific ordinances. Random thought- mainstream Christians say we're not Christians for the same reason that we LDS people don't believe that the FLDS are Mormons. One other thing that bothers me is that the church teaches that families can only be together if they're LDS. Our church is the only church that I know of that teaches that families will be eternally separated by God.
  4. Am I the only one that has an issue with this hymn? I believe we should only give paise to God.
  5. I just want to start by saying I am a devout member of the church. My cousin recently expressed her fear that she might have to be one of multiple wives in the Celestial Kingdom. Before this, I had never really thought of polygamy in heaven. I did a bit of research and found that it is true, the church does teach there will be polygamy in heaven. This is causing me a great deal of stress. I've read that no one will be forced into a polygamous relationship but what if the man wants it but the woman doesn't? That might cause some problems. Also, it just seems so unfair that a man can be sealed to another woman if his wife on earth dies but a woman cannot be sealed to another man if her husband on earth dies. While doing research, I read some disturbing things about Joseph Smith and his practice of polygamy. He would be sealed to women who already were married to living men. He would also lie to Emma about marriages. Do any of you believe that this was not a commandment made by God ? I'd appreciate any insight.
