  1. Check this out... i remember years ago in sacrament meeting we had this older man in our ward who had a voice like a disc jockey (and knew it). he was asked to give the opening prayer in Sacrament Meeting on the weekend of the 4th of July... everyone knew to expect a very LONG prayer when he got up (as it seemed he loved to hear his own voice over the microphone lol)... so he bows his head.... everyone else does the same... then... there is this LONG LONG pause.... ain't nuffin' coming out of his mouth for the longest time... then all of a sudden he speaks! but it isn't "our dear Heavenly Father......".... it was " My country tis of thee.... sweet land of liberty....".... and he went and said the whole 1st verse of the song!! then after that, he did the prayer... lololol people at that point were opening their eyes and looking around at each other like "are you kidding??!! " is this really happening?". lolol at the time it really made me mad, but looking back on it, it's a good conversation piece.
  2. lol you have judged righteously.... i do consider myself judemental and nit-picky. i love honest statements.
  3. It really gets under my skin when someone has to give the opening prayer and instead of folding their arms they have to feel a need to grab with both hands the pulpit. I have never seen a woman do it. It has always been men. I've seen General Authorities grab the pulpit while praying and it bothers me. i think it is a strange gesture.... like putting both hands in your pockets while praying. Its just strange to me. I know its not a life or death thing but a pet peeve i should consider working on. Does this bother anyone else too? I must be wierd lol. I know it is something i need to work on.
  4. I was reading in the gospel of Luke and it talks about Zacharias being in the temple at the time the angel Gabriel appeared to him and announced that he would have a son named John. I was curious as to what temple and is there a picture of the temple? Thanks to anyone who can help.
  5. Wow guys, im all confused after reading all this. Getting to the temple ceremony explains alot to me.
  6. I was teaching last sunday about spiritual gifts and the question came up, "what is the differance between a gift and a talent"? I thought maybe i could get some opinions because i have not come up with an answer yet. thanks in advance for any help.
  7. The setting takes place at a summer ward activity out at the pavilion. I wrote this in my journal: “Today was a very embarrassing day for me at our summer ward party. Someone from the ward brought a little kiddie pool and dumped a bunch of ice in it. Brother Gleason and Brother Rider came up to me with a bunch of brand new bottled water and asked me to put it in the pool. I took the bottled water and went up to the pool and began to open the bottled water and pour the water into the pool. I soon realized what I was doing when Brother Rider stopped me. I was so embarrassed, I felt like crawling under a rock and dying.” I emailed my dad what happened and he wrote back, “Mike; that's why you’re the Young Men's President and not the High Priest Group Leader... once you figure things out like that water incident (ahead of time), you'll be ready for bigger and better things.”
