Snow Posted August 30, 2004 Report Posted August 30, 2004 I just fininshed an interesting book, The Dogs of Riga, by Henning Menkell, a Swedish crime/fiction author. It was translated into English. It is one of a series of books about the protagonist police detective in a small Swedish city named Kurt Wallander. The books would be comparable to James Patterson's Alex Cross books... Kiss the Girls, Along Came a Spider... etc.The interesting thing is that they, of course are set in Sweden, and in this novel, also in Riga, Latvia so you get a sense of a foreign culture and locales - in Riga, it is cold and grey. 300 pages, quick reading, lots of tension. I reccommend it.http://www.inspector-wallander.org/mysteri...ga/default.aspx Quote
