Guest enlightenme Posted September 10, 2004 Report Posted September 10, 2004 Going from experience .... I know that when ever my wife and I have approached a bishop about getting help they have always been there.... there have been times... when we didn't even need to ask.... the bishop found out "through the grapevine" , that we could possible use some help one time..... The help is always there... go prepared.... have a budget, let him know what you need, and exactly what your situation is..... that is what Fast Offerings are there for. :) Quote
Jenda Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 When I was in high school (which was many years ago), my mother had a friend who needed surgery and had no health insurance, and the LDS church paid for the hospitalization and the surgery. My mother's friend was not a member of the church at the time. She did later become LDS, though. Quote

It was nice of the church to finance that for her though. Quote
Idacat Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 Yes, help is there for those who need. When I had need I was barely active and had never paid tithing. I was terrified and humiliated, but I was treated with the greatest of care and respect. And, my experience was like that of enlightenme; a grapevine at work. This changed my attitude in many ways; led me back to the path, and now I give so that others may receive. I KNOW that you do NOT have to be a tithing active member to receive this help freely given, and I also have known persons and families who were not members who received direct assistance. Quote
Guest bat Posted September 11, 2004 Report Posted September 11, 2004 I'm not sure if I have enough cash to buy beer this weekend. This gives me an idea..... Quote
