I just recieved a beautiful copy of the English Standard Version of the Holy Bible.

It's compact, nice read cover and has my name engraved in gold on it.

The text inside is really well indented so it's not all just aligned in one way if you know what I mean.

That's a hude advantage to me because I used to always have trouble with this old NKJV I used to have because all the text was not indented in one way.

Does using anything but the KJV come into conflict with being a Latter-day Saint?

Yeah I know, "But this guy ain't LDS."

I don't think the ESV should conflict at all. It's word-for-word and put together by conservative not liberal Christians.

Any translation is going to have issues.

I know we use the KJV but I don't recall any question in baptismal interview or temple recommend interview which asks "Which version of the Bible do you use?" Not using the LDS version of the King James bible you will miss out on all the cross references to other LDS scripture.

Oh, it's just that I don't have an LDS copy because they don't send Bibles in the mail for free outside N.A.

My question was more in regards to "can I use additional versions?"

No, I was stating what you might be thinking about me answering :)

I also am a non-LDS Book of Mormon Believer.

It's just that I haven't attended an LDS church yet, so there is a distinction between you and me there.

Aesa, I don't think it matters much which version you use. If you later get a standard set of LDS scriptures, you'll probably end up with a KJV, but in the meantime, read away!
