So I am close to deciding to take the steps necessary to convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of LDS! How should one go about this? Should I ask the missionaries to come to my home and they will start that process?

Also, I feel a little uncomfortable inviting the missionaries to my home, as I leave with 3 other guys (I'm a student), and I think it would be uncomfortable for them (2 are Catholic, the other is nothing), and I don't feel like revealing my decision to them at this time. Do missionaries give their lessons in other locations, or is it just normal for them to go to your home? What should I do if this would just be an awkward situation?

Thanks!

Contacting the missionaries would be the best way to go about it.

As far as teaching you in your home, that's pretty standard but not required. They would be more than happy to teach you elsewhere, either at a Member's home (actually, that's ideal, lets you met somebody in the church and all that), or at the local church building. I did plenty of all three.

Regarding your location, it is best to meet with people in a home. There are a few reasons for this.

(1) When it's your home, it helps bring the Spirit into your home in a way that it's never previously been there.

(2) It's private, and there are fewer distractions than in a public place. Privacy makes it more comfortable to have prayers, and makes it easier to feel the Spirit testify.

(3) When it's the home of a member of the Church, the Spirit resides there already, which further facilitates your being able to feel it.

If you tell the missionaries that you don't want to meet at your home, they'll find a way to make it work. You probably won't be meeting in a park or the public library, but they may find try to find a local member who is willing to invite you over for lessons with the missionaries (this is the ideal situation anyway). If all else fails, they can meet with you at the chapel.
