So, I'll be going through the temple for the first time very soon. I'm so excited that last night when I went to bed I felt like I did when I was a kid and it was Christmas the next day. On the other hand I'm really super bummed because I'm going by myself, not to be sealed to my not active husband and wonderful kids.

Any kind or wise or humors thoughts to help me focus on the awesomeness of this and not on the bummer that my husband is totally not interested in the temple or church at this time?

Alana, my husband is not interested in becoming a member, either. I have just returned from a trip to the Orlando Temple. It is awesome! It never gets routine for me. Every time is as special as the first time. Actually, the first time was a bit scary...not knowing what to expect...thinking I had to remember everything...afraid I would do something wrong...

My son goes on all the Youth Temple Trips.

Although my husband is not LDS, he totally supports us in any way he can. He goes to the events at Church...he participates in the Scouts...he helps with the Fund Raisers...and he may, one day, decide to actually take the big leap, and be baptized. That would be a great day, for sure!

Haha. The first few times are a bit scary actually. The first time you have an escort, so you feel as though you can make mistakes but are nervous of doing something you know absolutely nothing about. The second time you are on your own... at least it feels thay way. I was nevous enough on my second time to let the officiator know it was only the second time I had done it and to bear with me ;)

I went through over 200 endowments in a period of 10 months, which was about a year ago. I've already forgotten a lot of what happens :P

For those whos non-member husbands eventually decide to join the church... just make sure they don't push him. It's happened too many times in my ward. One guy was on the bishopric within a year of him being baptised - of the course the ward were desperate for priesthood holders hence why they did it, however he hasn't been to church now in a few years.

Workers are always right there if you need them. MIL has sometimes commented they can be TOO helpful for her, but that hasn't been an issue for me.

also a small not. My husband has been inactive most his life but did go on a mission and through the temple. Sometimes this makes it harder and sometimes easier:)

If you will go to the Temple regularly. If you will invite the missionaries over for dinner with you, your husband and children. Eventually, blessings will come. It may take time, but it will happen.

Well, I"ve got half the equation:) Missionaries are already scheduled for Tuesday. It's a win/win situation, the missionaries come over and we get to have pizza for dinner. We also have family prayers. He won't say them but he usually folds his arms and bows his head and even sometimes says amen.

Hmm, I'm making it sound not so bad, aren't I? Lol it isn't that bad. We even pay tithing on his income. Man, I better just get to the temple, it's the only part of the equation that's missing. Well that and sleep, I'm not even making sense anymore:P

Also, just want to say that I am getting more excited. Yeah, I messed up and got married out of the temple, but you know what's great? The atonement! The chance to repent! And now, I'll be able to go to the temple, how blessed am I! I might be doing it the hard way, but I can't wait for all of my family to go to the temple, one day, and until then, I'll just keep doing everything I can to keep myself there and help them along the way.

Alana,

If you and your husband and children love each other and want to be with each other, things will work out in the end and you will be together. God loves you and will look after you all. Don't let this get between you and your loved ones--just keep loving them, and all will be well.

Peace,

HEP
