lattelady Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 Well, to be fair, I said I didn't grow up in the church--that could've been taken to mean that I didn't grow in up the church but I converted as an adult, I suppose. It's okay! I truly appreciate someone/s taking time to answer my questions or at least try to without being condescending. Quote
Justice Posted August 18, 2009 Report Posted August 18, 2009 I think instead of trying to see what blessings or gifts it may or may not apply to, I look at the point it's trying to make. It is talking about obedience. If, by obedience, the Lord is bound to keep His word, what does that mean? What it means is that the Lord is making a covenant with us. When we are obedient to our covenants with Him, He must give us what He promised because He will not lie. That makes it a bit easier to decipher. Now, all you have to do is study all the covenants that man makes with God and see what He promises in each covenant. If you want what He promises through a certain covenant, be obedient to what you promised in that covenant. As someone who knows little of our doctrine or teachings, you will find through further study that we are a covenant making people. Quote
lattelady Posted August 18, 2009 Author Report Posted August 18, 2009 I DO love the covenants of the Old Testament that God made with His people. That would make for a really neat study to study out some of those (like Abraham, Moses--bringing that message to the people of Israel, Noah, etc.). Are there covenants (or a covenant) that God has made with you that are of greater importance than others--meaning: can they be put on levels of importance, or are they all considered EQUALLY important? Does that make sense? Quote
