What i find confusing is that the LDS church teaches that this life is basically a test.

But what kind of person we grow up to be is mostly determined by what our life has been like and how we have been rasied.

For example...

If Bin Laden had been born in a LDS family in Utah. Would he have became the world's leading terrorist?

Quite interesting to think about

Not really. We are all given the Light of Christ or a conscience if you will, Bin Laden wasn't forced to become an evil murderous villain. One need not be LDS to understand good from evil and those that may be brainwashed from an early age( lost their agency) will be judged accordingly.

Remember the affects of the Atonement pass upon all men and the Gospel will be preached to ALL, whether in this life or the next.

Lots of people have a view of God that He is watching our behavior and every time it is bad, we get a whack from Him (some bad thing happening). I believe that there are natural consequences to sin. But scripture doesn't support the idea of God "spanking" us for every infraction. Yes, He desires obedience. But the Bible says it's "His kindness that leads us to repentence." Sometimes He allows us to experience the tough consequences of sin and the deeper we descend into that isolation and unhappiness because of our choices, we get to the end of our rope. We realize that life walking close to God is BETTER than walking alone. He LOVES us. He's not vengeful and cruel. He knows what's best for us, but won't force us to choose that.

Your beginning to sound LDS........:)

Sort of makes this life pointless then? Nobody forced him to be a evil person. But becoming evil is from life experiences. Nobody is born evil.

I am not going to comment on agency. Because i usually end up having massive debates about it

But in any case. I am no longer an LDS member. Why is that? I was born into the church. I didn't accept it's teachings because of life experiences, and ultimatly my decision.

But if i had been born in Utah it could have been a totally different story.

See my point? it's the same with everyone. We are all born in this life the same. Who we become depends on our life.

Becoming evil is from making evil choices.

The Holy Ghost is the power by which we are converted and gain a testimony....so there is no guarantee that living in Utah would change you...plenty of ex and inactive members in Utah.

Who we become depends on our life.

Who we become depends on what we choose.......
