Ah yes. The absence of Da'at is precisely what gave room to the appearence of Malchut. Think of it this way: It is only where knowledge conceals itself where there can exist something other than G-d. Malchut by definition touches that which once was not and which could only come to be when G-d concealed himself.

The sparks of Adam Kadmon are well concealed in Asiya, aren't they. Joseph Smith Jr. taught us that we are co-eternal with G_d, due to our 'intelligences' which form the core (or, essence) of our being.

You should read the notes we have recorded of his "King Follett" sermon. :-)

I am surprised to learn that the LDS are interested in the Tree of Life. Is that an interest shared by all or just a personal interest?

Well, that's actually a can of worms.... But I'm fearless, so....

We have TONS of beliefs/teachings that tie into deep eternal truths. Most LDS have *no idea* what the source of these are, other than 'G_d'. The Tree of Life, for example, is not only discussed in the Book of Mormon, but also in our Temple Endowment teachings. But not in terms of Sephira or paths or attributes of G_dliness, but in terms of the fruit thereof.

We consider that we are tied into the true source of all truth, which we are each enabled to learn through the Spirit. You really *should* read the King Follett sermon, even though it's not "official" doctrine, most LDS believe it, as well they should...

As for me, I am a Mormon Mystic.

Here's a gem for you:

Adam fell that men might be; and men are, that they might have joy.

For thekabalist -- do you consider the 22 letters in relation to the paths between the sephira after creation?

And why the repetion of '10' and '22', one set on the side of limitation, the other set on the side of bounteousness (my word)? I think I see why the '10' is 'above' the '22'...

HiJolly

I like to think of the 22 letters as the DNA of the universe. They were uttered in 10 sayings that created our world. Yes they are paths between the sefirot for that every reason. Each utterance is associated to a sefirah.

I think your first question sort of answered your second. You see: the 22 letters are the path of ascending through the sefirot. So the 22 lead towards the 10.

The 22 letters are also that with which the Torah Law was written. Therefore we can say that the Torah Law leads towards the Tree of Life.

This sort of helps one understand what John meant with the word becoming flesh. According to him Jesus would embody all the 22 letters as he would be the fullness of the word. This is why John comes to the conclusion that Jesus is the way, isn't it? The latter is speculative.

Another comment on your avatar, thekabalist:

I see the text seems to be from the Sefer Yetzirah:

10 Sefiroth of Nothingness

And 22 Foundation Letters:

Three Mothers

Seven Doubles

And twelve Elementals. (Kaplan, SY 1:2)

I have a copy with me, as it happens. But I don't read Hebrew (yet), so I had to have a friend translate your avatar for me.

Has anyone pointed out to you the similarities between the coming forth of the Zohar and the coming forth of the Book of Mormon? Interesting stuff.
