Aristotle Posted January 10, 2006 Report Posted January 10, 2006 Yesterday my horn was stuck...so I couldn't blow my own horn. ;-) Quote
Josie Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 Heather, I hate the new front page for the site. I understand why you are posting the information you, but can it be displayed in bold face type and everything put back on that opening page so we can choose where we want to go, who is in chat, etc. It was so nice, because we could view everything on the site on the same page and just click whereever we want to go. That is only suggestion, just bring back our front page, even if it is rearranged. I thought there was plenty of room to put that notice there and still have a similar layout to what you had before. Thanks for listening Josie Quote
Aristotle Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 As a rule, people don't usually like change! Personally, I liked the old page better too, but it was what I had gotten accustomed to. With time, people will get adjusted to the new page, and I'm sure it will be to everyone's benefit. :-) BTW, I really like how the Add Reply page is set up. Oops, what happened to the Check Spelling? And what is the Guided Mode for, please? Oh, and I've never been able to get text color to work. Maybe there should be a Help Room. LOL Quote
Josie Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I love the new reply board, the way it is set up. We do like to be able to see who is in the chatroom before we go in, and I think some people actually steer away from chat when they don't know who they are going in on, sometimes. I also liked not having to log in everytime I enter the site. Quote
Aristotle Posted January 12, 2006 Report Posted January 12, 2006 I also liked not having to log in everytime I enter the site. That, I could never figure out. An auto-identify feature would be great. Quote

The one i had before could run anywhere. I will be putting a portal back in, but didn't get the chance to last night. Quote

Much much better. Hope you understand, I was not meaning to complain, and did not want it to sound like that, was stating that I liked it so much better the other way, but it would not have stopped me from coming, LOL. You are a great lady and I know you are working very hard for us. Quote
Heather Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 No please do. That's the only way to get things fixed :) The portal is in, but not linked right. It will be at http://www.ldstalk.com/forums so you will need to update your bookmarks Quote
Josie Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 Heather, I thought it was fixed because I found that all I had to do was click on "links" at the top of the page as soon as I brought up the site and I was logged in and at the right page. So all anyone has to know that is already a member is that if they just click on Links at the top of the page when the new first page comes up, that it takes them back to the original page (though rearranged slightly) and they know where to go from there and are logged in as usual. Quote
Heather Posted January 13, 2006 Author Report Posted January 13, 2006 That's actually because the links page hasn't been put back in yet, so it doesn't know where to go. The portal link is back on the site now though. I'm still looking for a mod that will do a links page Quote
Laureltree Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 I believe the thing that can make this board soar is...The members not getting angery over everthing with the moderators and rememberng that good solid calm communication gets more done, (no vinigar- only Honey ) And remember that we do have lives outside ldstalk....This is not a paid job, however we do fix all problems ASAP. We are a team of members and moderators working together to make this board as fun, spiritual and exciting as we possiably can, this must be a team effort for this board to be great ! Just my 2 Cents Quote
Josie Posted January 13, 2006 Report Posted January 13, 2006 LT, I agree with you completely. I have seen people get so upset over things many times that is not even your alls faults. The board has a great group of mods that have always treated me fairly and from I see are doing a great job. You can't fix what you don't know about and you cannot be here every minute. We all know, or should know that we can pm or email any of you at any time and let you know if there is a problem. mods have helped me time and time again. I have came here since either 1998 or 1999, I cannot remember which, which except for the couple years i did not know the site was back up and I love the changes in the site and I love what the site offers me. I have searched many sites when this one was down and nothing has compared to it. I am so thankful for it. Quote
Guest Syble Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 In response to name changes in chat: I would find someone taking my life out of my control, even on such a trivial level to be quite disconserting and unethical. Once when sitting on a public toilet a girl stood in the toilet next to me to take my picture. To her it was great fun and not a problem. To me, it was devastating. I could never understand that sick mentality. Quote
Guest Crazy Horse Posted January 14, 2006 Report Posted January 14, 2006 I think this site looks great. Heather is doing a great job as are the moderators. Keep it up! B) Quote
Sugarbay Posted February 1, 2006 Report Posted February 1, 2006 Heather, how about a deasktop icon for those of us who live here. Quote

Aristotle Posted February 2, 2006 Report Posted February 2, 2006 I would love a spellchecker, please. LOL Also, any website addy where I can download/upload avatars which will work on this site. Thanks :-) Quote
Guest MrsS Posted February 13, 2006 Report Posted February 13, 2006 Heather, How about fixing the edit feature. What I mean is put a time limit on it. On another board I was on, you could only edit with-in 30 minutes of your post. That prevented the problem posters from going back and totally eradicating their posts so there was no proof of their nasties and mis-deeds. I really like the quick edit, especially when I am reading it after it has posted and I find that I have left out a sentence or put a quote after my answer. Also, is it possible to put a feature in where we can give each other praise points? Rather than just post an "Atta Girl", or "Like your post" on the forum, we can click on praise and in 15 words or less say the same thing, and they get Praise Points. Of course there would be the opposite too ~ and it would be restricted where one person can only give one praise per person per 24 hours. Or one demerit per person per 24 hours. Just my 2 cents MrsS Quote
