Snow Posted January 19, 2006 Report Posted January 19, 2006 Gore Vidal, obviously a very talented writer, paints a less often seen portrait of America's Founding Fathers, primarily Washington, Franklin, Jefferson, Adams, Hamilton and Madisonm, though other fascinating character's are included. It gives a view into the machinations, personalities, power plays and emotions behind the birthing of our nation. Much of what is written seems to be heavily skewed by the author's opinion and sometimes buried behind clever turn's of phrases. The book is short and I know more know than when I started but if I had the time over, I'd spend it on something more straight forward, like the last book I read, 1776 by David McCullough.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/030010171...glance&n=283155 Quote
