Guest ChristianHumphrey Posted January 9, 2007 Report Posted January 9, 2007 Im a little confused what do you mean by False Doctrine..I don't even see how it could be if you pray as a group in church.. anything that is brought up that is false will jus give to you a stupor of thought then you will forget the thing that is wrong anything that is right will cause a burning inside of you..From what i understand and correct me if im thinking wrong.. God said this last time he set the church up it wouldnt go astray right..If any leaders were to try to lead it astray then they would be removed out of their spot..WE ourselves can go astray as we chose we can give up we can quit..But im not seeing how if you have priesthood authority and ye are asking for the spirit..Peeps have opinions, Opinions arent doctrine though Could u give me example.. Like i took it hard the God was a man on a earth at one time like Jesus Christ.. I thought he was the only God nothing before but I didnt just blow it off as false Doctrine I was smart enough to ask Father and while it has very little to do with my individual salvation prob its still pretty neat to know and jus helps me understand thats theres a bigger scheme going on which in turn i think does help my salvation cause it giveth me hope joy..I just dont understand how there can be any false doctrine at all so long as the Spirit is there and I have never walked into The Church of Jesus Christ anywhere and never felt the spirit u get it as soon as ur in there if u dont have it already..Heavenly Father will not lead us astray however we are free to stray if we choose to do so but in the end we will come back "Every knee shall Bow..Every tongue will confess." Some really good points. The church will not be led astray into full apostasy again. But individuals can be away from the spirit. We can not see the intent of peoples heart. When they are in or out of the spirit so to say. Only God knows for sure. Some people can put on a really good act. Joseph Smith "lost" parts of the scriptures when he was not fully obedient but I can't imagine the most precious truths ever being taken again. There will, in my opinion, be personal apostasies that will bear their accountabilities but nothing that will ever have such an eternal impact as when the priesthood was takenSometimes truth can not be fully understood depending on a persons particular circumstances. To some degree truth is relative for people to protect people. Like looking at the sun (son). The more christ like you become the more sun "son" you can handle without as much protection. There are differences in accountability and knowledge between the Prophet and the individual member. The prophets I knows would most likely be a little different from the average member due to the calling and responsiblity attached. As far as false doctrine or opinions could it not be the spirit actually at work revealing it to the individuals heart and actually correcting that misinformation thus helping to avert apostasy?. For those who aren't adept at feeling the spirit or recognizing it it could be hard for them to understand. Thus the reason for concern over whether to address it so it doesn't crush them. I've had times where I heard something and then went back months later because it hit me in a way it hadn't before. Wouldn't that be more power in the where two or more are gathered in His name because there would be enough truth there and also mistruth accounted for? Couldn't God account for all potential errors and also be helping us out? Quote

Neither does the burning in the bosom.I remember back to when I was a young missionary. Most of the time we were strong in the spirit and some times, like when we were tracting, we were not. Conversations would sometimes start out very innocent and end up, because of pride, a contest of what we know. That happens here sometimes, although we all try to keep it to a minimum. One of my companions told me, in one of those long and boring tracting sessions, that the second coming of Christ, was coming soon, because he heard that after the restoration, we had only so many prophets, and we were on our last one. This was back in 1978 (showing how old I am) and we have had a few since then. Not that we were perfect missionary's, but I don't believe, that when we gave lessons after that point, we had any problem calling on the spirit of the lord to testify of the truth of the Gospel. The Lord doesn't just give, through the spirit, those things that we need or desire. We must study them out in our minds and the the comforter will testify of all things, as you pointed out.Your friend - allmosthumble Quote
