HiJolly Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 I have benefitted powerfully from more than a decade of studying magic and the occult. Once you get past the kids (and the emotionally juvenile), much of value can be found. But as Joseph Smith said regarding studying the Bible Apocrypha, one must use the Holy Ghost constantly and discern carefully what one is exposing one's self to. Many people shouldn't do it because of their own weaknesses and/or predispositions. HiJolly Quote
HiJolly Posted May 9, 2011 Report Posted May 9, 2011 If I had had someone in my life who had a spine with regards to discussing these things I would have spent a lot less time exploring them myself. An excellent article that helped me understand the occult and stop giving so much energy to it was One Eternal Round: The Hermetic Version by Hugh Nibley. Amazingly enough, this article is widely available in his book Temple and the Cosmos.I am reading Nibley's One Eternal Round (the book- his last) right now. Very interesting. HiJolly Quote
