Shanclif Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 (edited) Hi, my name is Shannon Clifton. I have 5 beautiful children 10, 8, 6, 3, and 1. I am going through a divorce yeah . My wife of 11 years decided she no longer wanted to be a member so she left the church and me for a new guy. My children believe in the gospel and are sad because mommy downs the church and of course downs daddy as well. I believe that losing my wife was bad enough but the thought of losing my children is unbearable. IO lost my job due to having to go into a psychiatric hospital and I have been looking stead fast ever since I got out. My problem is I need a lawyer and I don't have the money to do so. I was hoping I could find a LDS lawyer who knew about child custody laws. I don't want to hurt my wife but I don't want my children unhappy either. I love my babies dearly and she knows this so she wants to use that to get to me. I would gladly pay her child support even if i had thew kids I just want them and they want me but what can I do? Does any of the church members know any lawyers who could at least give me advice? I live in missouri, I know my wife and her new man will gladly take my kids from me just to see me hurt. She is bipolar and manic so this is what she does. I just want to be with my kids. Thanks Edited August 6, 2011 by pam Please do not post personal email addresses for public view Quote
skippy740 Posted August 6, 2011 Report Posted August 6, 2011 Talk to your bishop in your ward and get referred to someone in your ward/stake. Quote
Shanclif Posted August 6, 2011 Author Report Posted August 6, 2011 Thanks, tried that one but he said the church doesn't do that. But I have got to keep trying. Thanks again. Quote
skippy740 Posted August 7, 2011 Report Posted August 7, 2011 The church doesn't do what exactly? Make an introduction to someone who can help who happens to be a member in the ward or stake? Or pay for legal services? I understand about paying for legal services... but you need to know WHO you can turn to. Ask again... but ask who would be a good person in the ward or stake that might be helpful for your situation... or who could refer you to someone who would be helpful. Quote
Shanclif Posted August 7, 2011 Author Report Posted August 7, 2011 I will try that I have a meeting with my Bishop tomorrow. Thanks again Quote
