tubaloth Posted October 15, 2011 Report Posted October 15, 2011 (edited) Straitn.1. Abbr. Str. or St. A narrow channel joining two larger bodies of water. Often used in the plural with a singular verb.2. A position of difficulty, perplexity, distress, or need. Often used in the plural: in desperate straits.adj.Straightadj. straight·er, straight·est1. Extending continuously in the same direction without curving: a straight line.2. Having no waves or bends: straight hair.If you watched Mysthbusters this last week (Oct 12) they had a "Myth" that Humans can't walk in a Straight line. MythBusters - Walk a Straight Line - Season 9 - Episode 15 [Full , HD] - YouTube(I'm sure this link well be taken down at some point in time). It actually was pretty funny to watch somebody think they are going straight, but end up wondering off. It didn't take long to realize the object lesson here. It shows how important holding on to the Iron Rod is. Especially if the path is Strait (narrow). It shows that pretty much the Natural Man can't walk straight with out seeing where he is going, or without holding onto something. Interesting thought. After trying to walk in a straight line, they try to swim in a straight line and drive in a straight line. (You can find the swimming video on this page MythBusters: Walk a Straight Line : Videos : Discovery Channel)I actually wish they would have done this with more people. But then again I think this could be done with any family home evening lesson, or even any youth activity. Really all that is needed was a GPS unit. (which even most phones have now). You can even upload your "route" to Google maps to show how you walked. Alma 37:4444 For behold, it is as easy to give heed to the word of Christ, which will point to you a straight course to eternal bliss, as it was for our fathers to give heed to this compass, which would point unto them a straight course to the promised land.
