gee1984 Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 Hello dear brothers and sisters, my name is Herve, I am a young Ivorian of 28 years old and live in Ivory Coast, I am new to this site. I am Mormon and I am proud since 1996. My whole family is a member, but my sister and I are the only ones active in the church right now. I worked remotely for an organization of Canadian seniors, as a webmaster. It was during this time that I had the idea of going to Canada to continue my studies because I was forced to quit my studies because of the war that occurred in my country in September 2002 . So I made an application and got my acceptance letter to study at St. Lawrence College in Montreal. My problem is I do not have the funds to pay for my schooling, that is to get my study permit. I explained the problem to my bishop, but he explained to me that I can not enjoy the perpetual fund because I am going outside the country. I also contacted a bishop in Canada, he also explained to me that he can help me when I am in Canada, yet the Canadian Embassy in my country asked me to prove I funds to pay for my studies in Canada, before it issues the permit me to study. So I'm caught between a rock and I do not know what to do. Help me find a solution please ... Sincerely Hervé Quote

Welcome! How about bringing the issue to your ward/stake and see if there's anybody that can help?Just a suggestion.I'll go do some searching to see what my cousins do with funding to attend schools in Canada. I have a few of them there right now. Quote
gee1984 Posted January 25, 2012 Author Report Posted January 25, 2012 Hello Anatess, I actually explained the problem here, but I assure you that we did not have a solution. I should normally be in Canada in January because I was scheduled for the start of winter 2O12, but I had no money, I asked my college Repport my classes this fall, ie the month of August. I hope you can find something to mmoi, thank you in advance Hervé Quote
Just_A_Guy Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 Given that you're already supposed to be in Canada, I'd suggest you contact the college immediately and ask them to defer your acceptance to the next semester. Then speak with their financial aid department and see what can be lined up. Quote
Guest Posted January 25, 2012 Report Posted January 25, 2012 Can you access the perpetual education fund if you do online coursework? Quote
Martain Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Definitely keep praying for the aid you need for the Lord has the power to grant your request so long as your faith is sufficient and it is inline with his plan for you.One option is to try Personal Loans and Online Investing - Peer to Peer Lending - Prosper. If nothing else, trying that route will be 'work' that the Lord can use towards blessing you with the desire of your prayer. Quote
Guest Posted January 26, 2012 Report Posted January 26, 2012 Herve, unfortunately, all my cousins paid their own way through personal loans and the like. They all tried applying for scholarships (scholarshipscanada.com) but the competition is too thick and none of them got it. Good luck! Quote
gee1984 Posted January 26, 2012 Author Report Posted January 26, 2012 Hello, I would like to thank all those who make the effort to find solutions for me. I realize that yes, the situtation is not easy ... Thank you again for everything, I hope I can get there. I know that Heavenly Father will help me in this research. Hervé Quote
