sshannonbb Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 i just got kinda comfortable in my new ward and they finally found my record. I had a chat with my bishop yesterday and I ve been giving a calling called compassionate something.. what do i expect?? and im getting my bunion removed early nov. so that mean i won't be able to do anything until i'm fully recovered. so i guess i'll have to let my bishop know about it then?? or should i let him know now?? can u tell me more about the calling ? i know i'm serving those that are in need.. but i've never had a calling before so i'm pretty unsure how to go about it. applepansy Posted September 10, 2012 Report Posted September 10, 2012 Compassionate Service Coordinator? Most of what you'll do is done on the phone. YOu'll get a call from the RS Pres saying Bro. Jones father died, the ward is doing the family dinner. You get to decide how many funeral potatoes are needed and call the sisters to arrange for the funeral potatoes to be baked and at the church by a certain time. Ditto with salads, desserts, flowers transported. You'll get called about new babies and arranging meals to be taken in. Or any other of a number of life events in peoples lives which might need the compassionate service of the RS sisters. Having a bunion removed shouldn't keep you from making phone calls. But... maybe the RS Pres will make some of those calls for you and the sisters will bring a few meals to your house during your recovery. Its a rewarding calling. Good Luck! P.S. My husband went in for Bunion removal last winter. Turned out to not exactly be a bunion and he's still complaining that he's still healing when the other bunion patients who had the surgery at the same are back to better than normal. Quote
