I agree that Grace is not works. Faith is a gift given by Grace (Eph 2:8). And it's not our faith that changes Christ's sacrifice, but our response to our faith that changes us.

I recommend reading the LDS Bible Dictionary entry on Faith:

Faith

This part seems most appropriate for this discussion.

Although faith is a gift, it must be cultured and sought after until it grows from a tiny seed to a great tree.
