Guest Posted October 13, 2015 Report Posted October 13, 2015 Salt is white because it is a reflective surface. It does not absorb much light at all. The difference between what we call "white" and "silvery" like a mirror is texture. A smooth surface that reflects light reflects shapes. A rough surface reflects via hundreds of little mirrors in all different directions. Hence, no shapes can be properly reflected. Quote
