Guest LiterateParakeet Posted January 1, 2016 Report Posted January 1, 2016 You just proved my point. A TON of people died back then of issues that have been largely defeated. IE-dieases, accidents, starvations, etc. Speaking of diseases...my son is in Ghana on his mission, and he has Malaria. When he went to the hospital, with a temperature of 104, the doctor told him that in the old days Ghana was called "The White Man's Grave". But they gave him some meds and released him the next day. The Mission President has kept us updated, he's recovering well. I'm very grateful for modern day meds because as you know Malaria can be deadly. Interesting side note--my family must be mosquito bait because I the Dengue when I was in Venezuela (I was sick in bed for two weeks!) and my husband was one of the first people in Utah County (the doctor told him later) to get West Nile Virus. He was also in bed for about two weeks. Quote
