Guest Ruthie-chan Posted June 9, 2004 Report Posted June 9, 2004 Heya, I'm married to someone who is not a member of the church. Our daughter is only 13 months, but soon I'm going to need Family Home Evening ideas. I hear they should have something to do with a church topic, but that would leave my husband out, and it's not family oriented without him. What other things can we do together as a family for FHE that will foster family togetherness? Activities that require money are fairly easy to come up with. (Movie, eating out) The only thing I can think of that doesn't cost anything is going to the park. Any other ideas? (Ideas for all ages are welcome as Hazel will be our daughter for the rest of our lives. Ideas requiring siblings are also good since we're planning on having four more children. :)) Quote
deepthinker Posted June 24, 2004 Report Posted June 24, 2004 our family will sometimes moake something together. like cookies or bread or whatever else. it's really fun for the kids to help with that and then be able to eat what they hepled with. we also play games. Quote
broadway Posted July 22, 2004 Report Posted July 22, 2004 Fame Home evenings were set up for two reasons. 1) family togetherness 2) learning more about God So, your husband isn't a member. Not that big a deal when it comes to planning FHE. You don't need scriptures and a manual to plan FHE's. God created everything. So, it should be fairly easy to pick a topic that would offend your husband. You could do an FHE on farm animals, or the solar system, or whatever. You might even be able to slip in a scripture reference every now and then, too. Is he at least a theist? or better yet, a christian? Maybe you could easily use the Bible to make FHE's? broadway Quote
iamalighthouse Posted August 18, 2004 Report Posted August 18, 2004 I have a family with 3 brothers and 4 sisters and we have family home evening every Monday night. We'll have an activity that usually has to do with playing games or watching a feature films for family movie cause those are some good movies for young kids. We also have a lesson about anything. We have had lessons from saying prayers to what to do to keep your mess picked up. And each one of us has an assignment that we're in charge of. One of us picks the refreshment one picks the activiy one gives the lesson and one conducts. We splurge everyonce in a while and go somewhere like to a resteraunt to eat. Then come home and have a closing song and prayer and go to bed. I originally said every night and it's on monday nights. Quote
