kenneth Posted March 26, 2008 Report Posted March 26, 2008 I can never measure up to Him, but I thought that was the whole point. You see, one dreary day when I was weary and wasting away, the Son of man took my hand and lead me away, only to say, “Follow me.” And even though I’m convinced, I’ve been wondering why ever since because my small, clumsy steps can’t even hope to fit His footprints to love my enemies, speak with power, challenge the popular, embrace the outcasts, shed tears in public, shake off accusations, never bow to sin or never break God’s law. I’m sick of when I struggle. I’m frustrated when I fall, but he who is without sin wouldn’t need Jesus at all. My motives and skills just kill any hopes and whims of ever measuring up to Him, but now I know that’s the whole point because cursed is every one that hangs on a tree, so when I see Christ bleed, knowing it should be me, I now see my need for Him. Since the Word was made flesh, let me confess over mic checks that the Word was God, the Son of man in the clouds painting the night visions of Daniel, but the truth is sometimes too hard for us to handle. I don’t understand His plan from every line, precept and angle, but since my eternity changed by the nails through His feet and hands, I under (over, through, to, front, back, side to side, let me ride, never hide, in, out, all about) stand behind any mic across the land that the Son of man is more than just a man, a man of sorrows, a man from above, a man who, in love, laid down His life for His friends, and how many of us really have them? I just need the Friend Who sticks closer than a brother. Copyright 2008. Streetlight Publications. "And if Christ be not risen, then [is] our preaching vain, and your faith [is] also vain. Yea, and we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified of God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not up, if so be that the dead rise not. And if Christ be not raised, your faith [is] vain; ye are yet in your sins." (I Corinthians 15:14-15, 17) Quote
