  1. No...but there is more to it than the current LDS edition of the King James Version includes. The Community of Christ own it, and one of the prophets or apostles went through and picked the things they believed were the most correct. They weren't sure if the RLDS or Community of Christ church had changed anything.
  2. That's really smart, actually. I just didn't know if I should be recommending people to their book publisher, lol. Thanks Nate!
  3. Most of my instruments were self taught. The guitar never went too far for me. I got it in 10th grade, so about four years ago. My roommates play it more than I do! The piano is SO worth it! You should keep trying! I learned when I was five and have had a total of about 2 years of lessons. I prefer to just play and sing at a piano by myself. That's my favorite thing to do. A close second is to accompany people. In high school, I would pull out the EFY music in my band room during lunch and have about 10 people around me singing it. It is an incredible feeling! And thank you everyone!
  4. I agree...I absolutely love Abigail after this. And it completely sheds a whole new light on how the Atonement really affects us and our relationships with others. I can't wait for his new one!
  5. Yes. You can search for it at DeseretBook.com but it's pretty pricy. It is owned by the RLDS or Community of Christ church.
  6. haha...saying a "play" the harp is quite an overstatement. I can pluck out some hymns and melodies, but that's about it. I REALLY need to work on it. I'm not as used to string instruments as I am woodwinds. I do love it though. It's been my dream instrument pretty much my whole life.
  7. Actually, a lot of LDS books can be found on amazon.com. That might save you some money on the book itself, but I'm not sure about shipping. I find myself referring customers there quite often. :) I attempt to play the guitar, lol. I got one for Christmas a few years back, but don't play too well. Never really played the drums, though I wanted to. I did play the vibes in the percussion section of a jazz band. And I sing for fun, like Ward Choir, etc. but not very professionally.
  8. haha...ya. That must've been pretty hard to figure out! jk. He actually has another book coming out this year called "The Holy Secret" about learning to love...not just reverence...things like the temple, the Sabbath, scriptures, etc.
  9. It is! Lol. Her name is Gloria. My roommates absolutely adore her because it makes our apartment look so cool.
  10. My name is Whitney. I am a senior at BYU studying Elementary Education. I work for Deseret Book, which is always fun. I love music--play like 10 different instruments. In fact, I just got a harp for Christmas, which was a HUGE surprise, as I didn't know how to play before. Anyway, howdy to ya'll!
  11. This book is incredible! Here's the description from Deseret Book How is Christ the answer to a strained relationship with child, parent or sibling? What if I am being mistreated-- what does the atonement say about that? How can I discover the desire to repent when I don't feel the need to repent? These are the challenging questions of daily life, the questions to which the gospel must provide an answer if it is to have living, cleansing, redeeming power. The Peacegiver is a book about the answers to these questions. In both content and form it is unlike other books about the atonement, for it unfolds as compelling story in which the characters learn about the Atonement as they struggle over the problems in their lives-- problems we each share. The book therefore allows us not only to "learn about" the Atonement but also to have an experience with it. "My peace I give unto you," the Savior declared. The Peacegiver explores in a deeply personal way what we must do to receive the peace he stands willing to give. Even if you don't have issues, it really helped me better understand a way the Atonement can be applied in my life. My friend put it this way--"It's the only book I've ever finished and then started right over at the beginning again." It is really an amazing book that can change the way you live your life if you let it.
  12. He does have some interesting books, but the Charly series was very well done. He actually just came out with a new book called "As Always, Dave." It was pretty good! The character development could use some work, but I enjoyed the story as it is about life in the young single adult scene--single's wards, Dear John letters, etc. SPOILER!!! It was much better than his previous book, "Alone, Together." I enjoyed the book all the way through, enjoyed every bit, until the last paragraph. This isn't an exact quote, but "Jane and Joe (can't remember names) shared their first kiss, but it wasn't their last. Six months later they were married in the _______ temple." Blech! Can you have a worse ending!?
  13. These are great books! They opened my eyes to the fact that the Book of Mormon characters really lived and breathed! The fourth one is the best! And the Work and the Glory series is incredible! I read it in high school and fell in love with it. Another good book that goes to pioneer times is Kate's Turn by Cheri J. Crane. A teenage girl with an attitude problem goes into a coma back to pioneer times. I recommend it!
  14. I'm not sure. I know you can at Deseret Book, but if you're out of Utah that may be more of a problem. Quite often, I refer customers to amazon.com. You can find many LDS novels there for quite an affordable price! Or there's always deseretbook.com
