    YouTube - The Church of Oprah exposed She denies Christ

    The relevant part ends at 3:30.

    What do you think about this? What do you think about the video-maker's commentary? What about Oprah's comments?

    There's many of other videos, too. Some which I wouldn't recommend watching (because of the stupid comments and images added to them), but some you can find that are just pure clips of her television segments.

    To me, I see a plethora of half-truths. Thinks half-right, but the other half is greatly erring and misleading.

    I've never liked Oprah, myself. Even as a kid. I get these "feelings" about people that, in my experience, have turned out to be correct. I've been mocked about this, but I know it's one of my gifts.

    Oprah has always made me feel uneasy.

    This helps me understand why.

    Other things she's done have shocked me. Over a decade ago, she had a kid on her show that did the same thing as in this video:

    I found it appalling that she showed on national TV how easy it is to conceal weapons. I was 9 at the time, and I've never forgotten that I can stick a rifle in my baggy pants. I think the Oprah segment mentioned the kid cutting holes in the bottom of his pockets to hide bigger guns.

    Thoughts on Oprah?

    i have seen that video. I agree. Oprah kinda rubs me the wrong way. Just because someone calls themselves a christian does not make them a christian.

    Im not convinced on the idea. Teachers are trained to teach children and have a curriculum to incorporate everything-parents are teachers, but they are not trained to teach specifics if u see what I mean. I would hate for my kids to grow up lacking in knowledge because of me.

    If you have ever done a any research on homeschooled children. They perform 3 grades higher then the public schooled child. With so many resources avaliable to parents it is hard to mess it up unless your child sits at home and you never teach them anything. my 4 year old was reading chapter books..

    My 3 year old is now learning to read. My 5 year old now does simple algebra, addition, subtraction, skip counting etc...my 3 year old does some of that.

    These are not brilliant kids its just that i work with them.

    I am going to posts some more questions for chapter 3 today as well. be sure to use original questions as well in study. But go ahead and tells us about chapter 2 and what you learned.

    1. Discuss some of the history characters indicating when John began his ministry. Tiberius Caesar etc. Why does he mention these? Of Annas and Caiaphas. Where do we here more of them? (Vses 1 and 2)

    2. What came to John (which John?) and where? (Vs 2) Reference former reference to John’s growth. Where does John preach? What does he preach? (Vs 3)

    3. Is the quote from Isaiah an indication of the kind of message John brought? (Vses 4-6) Expound on what that was.

    4. Why were the people coming out to be baptized of John? (Vs 7) What was John saying to them as they come out to be baptized? What was his message? (Vs 8) What would be their response to him? John’s answer? (Verses 8 and 9)

    5. What is the message of verse 9? Is it still true? What was the response? (cf Acts 2:37) The answer? (Vs 11) What about the tax collectors? Soldiers?

    6. What was in the back of the minds of the people concerning John? (Vs 15) We’ve talked of this before how that the people were expecting Christ (re the woman at the well).

    7. What does John say of himself versus the one to come? (Vses 16-17) Does the word “But” mean that Jesus would not baptize with water? Could it be that Jesus had more baptisms? Did Jesus baptize with water? (Re: John 4:1) Perhaps the fire had to do with getting rid of?

    8. What “other words” did John teach? (Vs 18)

    9. What happened to John in the relation to Herod the ruler? (Vses 19-20) Was it just about Herodias, his brother’s wife?

    10. What do we learn more of John’s baptizing – Jesus? (Vs 21) What more do we know from here of the baptism? (Vs 22) God’s recognition of the Son.

    11. How old was Jesus when he began his ministry? (Vs 23)

    12. Why the genealogy of Joseph? Note some of the names through David and back to Adam. (Vses 23-38)

    The one thing that really stuck out for me in chapter two is the expectancy of his arrival.

    First with the shepherds and their attitude of urgency to go see him after the news had been revealed to them..then they told everyone.

    Then simeon. a righteous and devout man. Whose prophecy gives us the why of Jesus coming. And Anna who again is sold out for God and expecting his coming.

    To those that were waiting for him he was not a surprise but a glorious day for them to others it will bring fear to them to know the King has come.

    We are to be just as watchful of his return today as they were then.

    Mary and Joseph seem to struggle with with their parental role and that of their son being their savior and brought to this earth for a purpose. This was laid out in they find Jesus in the temple. What i really find interesting about that interection was that Jesus proclaimed to them i am in my father's house. And yet he subjected to them in their little faith and was obediant even in all his glory he obeyed.

    The Bible teaches in Genesis 1:1 (with Hebrew 11:3) that God created everything out of nothing, "ex- nihilo" (a creation from nothing). The Hebrew word (bara, word #1254 in Strong) that is translated "created" in Genesis 1:1 is only used for creations by God. In summary it means a creation out of nothing. God spoke, and what was not, was.

    I had no idea that joseph Smith taught matter can not be created or destroyed...and yet in Genesis that is exactly what is happening it is being created.

    Let's start with verse 1. I'm going to quote Genesis, so the non-members in the forum can participate, but let's not forget about the other 2 accounts we have.

    Genesis 1:

    1 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth.

    There is no greater division between Christian faiths about any single scripture than the myriad of beliefs in the world about the main words in the opening verse of the Bible. If people can not agree on the 5 main words in the first verse, it will be impossible to agree with nearly every scripture that follows.

    1. beginning

    2. God

    3. created

    4. heaven

    5. earth

    It's a given that people with different faiths, from different backgrounds will view 1-3 very differently. Most of what we need to understand each other on are in the first 3 words.

    I'll make a general definition according to the LDS faith:

    1. beginning: This can be understood to mean the beginning of the planning and actual creation of this earth. We are told through modern revelation that there have been an innumerable (to man) amount of worlds created. But, that this account pertains to the creation of this earth we live on. It is not describing the creation of the first man ever, but the first man to inhabit this earth.

    2. God: This is the premortal Jesus Christ, and His name is Jehova. He will later be born in the flesh to Mary, and Atone for the sins of mankind, and reverse the effects of the fall.

    3. created: This means that things were organized or formed from existing matter or material, and not willed or wished into existence from nothing. Joseph Smith once said, "If there ever was a time when there was nothing, there would still be nothing." This is a different way of saying "you can't get something from nothing."

    Now, for 4 and 5 (heaven and earth) we will leave to the scriptures to define as we move through the first chapter.

    Any thoughts about the first verse, especially the first 3 words on my list? Please don't move ahead, it can get confusing if we move back and forth.

    Have you ever done a word study on that word created in vs 1??? Bara.. created out of nothing.

    Why does Genesis have two differing accounts of the creation?

    i am assuming you mean chapter 1 and 2 correct? They are actually not two diff accounts but one from different angles.

    If yes they are the short and long story..read it again and look at it like this.. The camera is in a zoom out position and then it zooms in on adam and eve..

    i thought this was an interesting post. but I had to say something to it. If I was reading terriorsits material and then one day decided to read stuff that discouraged terriorist material and then I threw it out and one day it showed back up does this mean I should really become a terriorist??

    It is foolish to put too much emphasis on circumstances like this. The bible warns us about that. Rather examine the evidence and ask God for his leading with his already written word in the bible. Does it line up to it? Does it fit like a glove etc..?

    That is my two cents on it. But I bet you were like WOW that is wild!! Things have shown up at my door beyond explanation that i am glad came back into my life.

    Dr. T somewhere on this thread you mentioned the body and soul. I had a thought that I wanted to share with you.

    I too believe we are made up of body, soul and spirit. The soul being our emotions, our personality, our will. It is there upon conception. The spirit however which controls our body and soul is ethier of God (born again or believe)or of satan. This concept is also taught in genesis. hmmm..that would make for an interesting book study. ;)

    Skip, you said something that I have often wondered about as well. Who was God's God??? That has always confused me since God said he knows of no other God..you would think he would have known his God right?

    I like everyone's advise..but here is a few from a nurse perspective.

    1. Take a deep breath..it's going to be okay

    2. Get a good dr. and have your baby in a good hospital...less chance of something going wrong.

    3.. Pray that Jesus protects you during this time..and put your trust and cares on HIm.

    4.. Take care of yourself..eat right..enough sleep, etc..

    5. Do everything your medical proff..tell you to do.

    I have oversimplied this so that you can take it in. Congratulation to you.

    Just another thought..try not to spend all your time on those sites you talked about but get busy perparing yourself for this new life.

    I was wondering if you had a new set of questions to contemplate for Luke 2. We already know who he wrote to, when it was written etc. Just wondering if there are key items you'd like everyone to consider.

    Skalenfehl..The first question will not apply throughout but the others will..

    here is a few more questions..to just consider as well..i thought they were fun..

    1. What is the rest of the story? (Vses 5-7) Pledged to be married? Expecting. Time to be born. Where born? Why no room? “The” inn.

    2. Why the story of the shepherds at night? Note the place name? Where the child would be found? Do you think the shepherds were looking for this event? (Vses 8-14)

    3. What did the shepherds do with the announcement information? What did they find? Where? What did they do? What did Mary do with this information? (Vses 16-20) “just as they had been told.”

    4. Of Simeon. Who was he? What was he waiting for and why? How come he showed up? Note Simeon’s comments, a prayer, recorded by Luke. (Vses 25-32)

    5. What effect did what Simeon said have on Joseph and Mary? Was this part of the need? What does he say to Mary? Could “a sword” be “like a sword,” thinking of the crucifixion? (Vs 33-35)

    6. Of prophetess Anna “also”: whose daughter, of what tribe? Old. Her history. Her dedication to the Lord evidence. When she came to them. What she said to whom. Why? (Vses 36-38)

    7. Of Jesus and Joseph and Mary. What next? (Vses 36 – 40) Returned to Nazareth when? What do we know of Jesus?

    8. An interesting happening on the road of growing strong and in the grace of the Lord. How often did Jesus’ parents go to the Feast of the Passover? This is one time. What happened? Note the timing. Note what Jesus was doing. Note the chastising by his mother? “Your father and I” (Vses 41-48) What was Joseph and Mary’s reaction on seeing Jesus? Why?

    9. Should the parents have known where Jesus would want to be? (Vses 49-50)
