Haha. Well, in my way of thinking, it isn't really an option. You come back over and over until you get it right. I was just trying to help vinny understand where I was coming from. Besides, Apostle Orson Hyde and Eliza R. Snow both believed in reincarnation, so there were some Mormons who felt as I believe.

Unfortunately for me, half my books don't have an ISBN. But I've noticed in the tools section there are alternative ways to enter books that aren't listed. Frank, what's your user name?
-
Ok vinny. So basically what I'm saying is that if you're destined for the Terrestrial Kingdom or the Telestial Kingdom, and you don't like it there, then you can choose to come back to earth, and try again. Isn't that good news?

Anywhere I can put them. I've been using the cheap-o walmart bookcases i've had since my early college days, but Im now replacing those sorry sagging things with some nice oak, glass-enclosed "lawyer" style bookcases. It's rather pathetic to have thousands of dollars in books sitting on a $69.95 bookcase. As soon as I finish my upstairs (when the carpet guys finally show up and put my new carpet in) then I get to buy another bookcase. :) PS. Have you checked out my list?
-
I've put up around 150 books so far. Just a couple hundred to go....
-
Get yourself signed up again Doc. Let's see what's in your stack! Im omitting bibles, missals and handbooks. Too many to list, and not that interesting.
-
The site does make it easy to use. I've already listed a hundred books, and it took no time at all. And it's good to know what we have just to see. It's like virtual browsing. :)

Doc T shared librarything.com with us on another thread. I'm going to catalog my entire library and share it with you. I say we all do this and see what interesting books adorn our shelves! You can register and catalog your first two hundred books for free. I'm going to pay the ten bucks so I can register my whole library. My username is: "BrJayOST" Go into search and then to users. I've only got a few listed so far, but feel free to check them out!

That site looks addictive. Beware!

It is a serious question, and I would like to see your statistics proving that "a lot" of people leave because they want to sin. Knowing you don't have any statistical information to back up your theory, I would ask just how many people you've met personally who left because they wanted to "sin". Then I want to know what sins they specifically wanted to commit: ie. Word of Wisdom, Adultery, Homosexuality, etc. Then I'll tell you I have first hand experience with hundreds of people who left the LDS Church because of it's theology alone. And I'll point out that I am one of those people.
-
Why not? Guilty of what? Sinning? Vinny, why would you even think that people would leave the LDS church because they wanted to sin?
-
Lucky for you, if it is true, then you don't have anything to worry about. :) God does, you don't. Nope.
-
I think it certainly qualifies as the "Good News".

Bible scholars tell us that this verse is talking about Israel and Judah. Not Middle East and somewhere in the Western Hemisphere. But you can interpret it differently if you wish. I believe that a loving God would not ask us to rely on the words of any book. I believe a loving God will save us all unconditionally. I believe if we did not require a belief to be born, we will not require one when we die. In the same way that Buddhism, Taoism, Jainism, Judaism, Orthodox Christianity, Hinduism and every other religion are true. All religions will lead us back to God (or what you call being exalted in the Celestial Kingdom).

You're right CK. I'll take up his questions while I wait for a reply for mine. Like anything outside the realm of the scientific method, I cannot prove that reincarnation is real. I believe that the faithful in Jesus' day believed in reincarnation, and there are several New Testament verses that teach it and allude to it. Off the top of my head, John the Baptist's disciples asked him if he wasn't Elias or some other prophet reincarnated, for example. Vinny, Mormonism is true. Just not in the way you think it is.
-
That's what I'm asking you. Why do you believe Jesus needed to incarnate in more than one place? Then I'll respond.
-
You're asking the wrong questions, and not answering the others.
-
Ok. We both believe in God. I believe that God has given us our consciences to determine right from wrong. Some of us will listen to them, some will not. We may require more than one mortal life to get it right. Hence my believe in Reincarnation. And my belief that we don't need a Prophet. Useful? Perhaps. Necessary? No. Jesus incarnated in the Old World, but I don't believe he needed to incarnate anywhere else. Why wouldh he?

What makes what true? Faith in God and faith in books written by men are two vastly different things bro. Maybe we should define spiritual maturity.
-
Neither a warm fuzzy, or a vision of an Angel makes them true. So how else do you propose to support your view? Theology is no different from philosophy. Neither can be proven. Yeah, I "knew" what you claim. Now I "know" better. Assuming you are right and everyone who doesn't hold the same view is wrong is a sign of spiritual immaturity. I'm not saying you're wrong Vinny. I'm saying Mormonism isn't the only "right". I'm not arguing they're "all wrong". I'm arguing that they're not "truth". I have God, and that's enough.
-
Theology, like philosophy, is just someone's opinion Vinny. Using someone else's opinion (standard works) to support your own does nothing. That's a rather spiritually immature statement to make vinny. I don't blame you though, I thought the same when I was a missionary. We all search for truth. Here's a quote you should remember: "Believe those who are seeking the truth; doubt those who find it." -Andre Gide
-
Never happened.
-
Indeed. And they are never found in written form.
-
That's what all doctrine and revelation is Vinny....just someone's opinion.
-
We may all be equal, but some are more equal than others. LOL You do not seriously want to compare the theological offerings of Jack Jick with those of the John Calvin, Arminius, or even moderns like Millet and Robinson (LDS scholars)? Do you mean Jack Chick? No, his "theology" is warped and based on the "Hate and Burn" gospel. Well they wrote the texts (supposedly), but if it wasn't for the Catholic Church, there would be no Bible. One does not become a Prophet or Apostle by popular vote. Show me one instance in the Bible or Book of Mormon where God put it up to a vote? Anyone can, but some choose not to, or others choose to allow others to do it for them like you guys. We are all prophets. Well you might have the Priesthood of believers, but you do not have the historic Priesthood handed down from Jesus's mortal ministry.
