  1. Thank you all for the kind words and great advice. And to clarify I do attend SS and PH. I made it a habit very early in my calling of not skipping those classes to "hide" in the clerks office. This calling can be completed without missing a ton of SS or PH classes (excluding the times the bishop asked me to do something during that time). Our Stake auditor always asked to do the audit during SS and I asked him to schedule them at another time so I could attend my classes. I was at the clerks office last night and the Bishop stopped by, I had a very short conversation with him where I did not ask to be released but just spoke with him about the longevity of my call and he indicated that they had already submitted names to the stake for my replacement. I guess the Lord will answer your prayers.
  2. Hello I thought Id ask here if anybody has any advice for me. I've been the financial clerk for 4 years now and have enjoyed my calling but its getting old, its like the one calling in the church where there is no spiritual development, your in essence just a paper pusher. I do understand that it an important job and needs to be done to free the Bishop for more important work. But I miss going home from church with my family. I know your not "supposed to" ask to be released from a calling or seek a calling. But I am at my end and have no further desire to write checks or reconcile on that horrible MLS software. So how would you advice me to ask for a release with out harming my chances of getting another calling. Id hate to be black listed as a person who doesn't accept callings...
  3. Mine is the Washington DC Temple. There is a great view from the freeway, The huge mural of the second coming is great and the stained glass windows running up the spires, I saw this from the inside very cool. Plus it was the temple that served my mission. It was outside our boundary so I only got to go once as an Elder and once later. I'd post some photos from my trip but there analog;)
  4. Thanks MarginOfError that makes a lot of sense and it follows along with what I rwas thinking. I wonder if it was a conscious decision to make the east doors functional on the smaller temples? Or if it was a cost driven decision?
  5. Hello all. I went to visit the Twin Falls Temple last weekend and had a question you could help answer for me. On most Temples Ive visited IE. SLC, DC, Boise. the east doors are not used. I was told once they are to only be used by the Savior when he returns. I noticed that the only doors into the smaller TF temple is the east doors. So was I was wondering what was the reason for the east doors? Was what I was told about the doors incorrect? Just curious, more than anything.
  6. My old Stake Center here had a very nice softball field which was recently paved over for parking. The Stake center where I live now has (2) softball fields and a outdoor volleyball pit. Our Stake also hosts mens and youth Bball tourney, But they also sponsor coed adult Volleyball, mens and youth softball. We even have a golf tourney in conjunction with pioneer days at the local public course. I played last year with a member of the Stake Presidency. I'm glad our stake has an expanded view on sports. Its a great way to meet members from the other wards and get out some of the non-members to the church building.
  7. Wow an 80% that's better than I thought I would do.
  8. I usually only use the Study aids included in the LDS Scriptures. The Bible dictionary and Topical Guide seem to be the most useful to me. This year there seems to be a wide variety of BOM study aids in the LDS Bookstores. I hadn't noticed this many in years past. I wonder if the trend will continue into the D&C and Old Testament?
  9. I look at the cross as one way to display your faith. I was taught and have believed what Pres Hinkley said in that Ensign article for a long time, that our lives are a reflection of our faith and that we believe in the resurrected Savior. In fact its the central theme of the Book of Mormon. When I see somebody who wears the cross it doesnt offend me. I look to it as one way they chose to declare there faith.
  10. Me too it definitely inspired my Nickname :) thanks.
  11. Yup I'm from Boise. I've been looking there's a lot to see. Thanks for the welcome.
  12. I love to read the chiasmus in the BOM. I found one I hadn't noticed before in Mosiah 27:32-35 roughly. Its centred on the names of the sons of Mosiah in vs. 34. It was a very cool when I read it and the structure caught my eye. Take a look and let me know what you think?
  13. Hello, Ive been looking for an on-line place to chat with other members of the church and this seems to be a good place. Ive been a active member my whole life mission, Temple marriage w/ 3 kids (8,6,5). I've been feeling that my testimony has been depressed of late and need to find some support outside of my normal circle. I have a few church related questions for you all but I'll save those for latter, anyway Hi!
