  1. I can tell you a bit about the "easy" gardening you desire. I was in a car accident a few years ago. This left me with the need for a better way than rows that needed daily tending and massive weeding. My husband took it upon himself this year to build me an amazing garden. I took ideas from the Square Foot Gardening method, and a few of my own ideas and have been sooooo happy with it. If I am successful at posting a picture, this will show you what I am doing. You don't have to start big, maybe just a box or two:) Good Luck!! g
  2. I think you can just use the margarine for whichever category you put it in now. I don't consider it necessarily a milk product, just an extra. I think you will love the eggs and shortening. I have recently purchased the egg whites and I LOVE them. So easy, and they whip up beautifully. I make Belgian Waffles quite often and they are perfect to whip up quickly without the hassle of seperating and not knowing what to do with the yolks. Have fun trying them all!!
  3. I also have the Family Grain Mill, along with a few more of their products. I also like to mill corn, so I got a relatively inexpensive hand mill to "crack" the popcorn before milling. This seems to be a good alternative. It is best to have a hand grinder anyway, in case of power outage. We do have a generator, but I still like the idea of being able to grind without the electricity:)
  4. I just looked on Honeyville's site and their yellow popcorn is more than Walton's but their shipping is really cheap and they have blue and white popcorn. I may have to try those. It would be fun to have blue cornbread:) - seriously though, you can make great tortillas and try chip making with the blue, but they say it doesn't do really well with the bread. I may still try it^_^
  5. I have always bought dent corn to grind for cornmeal and such, but I have now heard from several people that say you should buy the popcorn to grind. I really never thought of it, but people say it is cheaper and comes out to a better ground product than dent corn. So, that is my two cents:D
  6. I just wanted to give you all a heads up. I don't think I have posted this here yet^_^ I sometimes forget what I am doing:D But, Honeyville is having a great sale on these products. The butter, eggs, shortening are all a great price to begin with at the Honeyville site, but they are having a sale and it is only $4.49 to ship anywhere in the US. If you want the 10% discount you have to put in HOLIDAY80 in the promo box. Their prices are great. I have a commercial vacuum sealer and a bunch of friends are going together on a 50# bag of the dehydrated eggs. I will seal them up in whatever sizes everyone needs. Fun!! I love getting a great deal. Happy Holidays to all!!
  7. I started using the dehydrated items several months ago. I have had really good results so far. The dehydrated eggs last 15 years, but once open they should be refridgerated and will last one year. I learned that one the hard way, as I had ordered them in #10 cans. Too much for me. I have now ordered them in the 2.5 can, which is much more manageable. Much smaller also so it fits in the fridge better:) I have also used powdered shortening, butter etc. to make mixes-like the one above, with great results. I got mine from Walton Feed, or from a little store that carries Walton's products. I think you will really like this addition to your storage. Have fun experimenting! Blake0808
