Oh, it's just that I don't have an LDS copy because they don't send Bibles in the mail for free outside N.A. My question was more in regards to "can I use additional versions?"
-
I may not be LDS, but I do have a testimony of the Book of Mormon.

I just recieved a beautiful copy of the English Standard Version of the Holy Bible. It's compact, nice read cover and has my name engraved in gold on it. The text inside is really well indented so it's not all just aligned in one way if you know what I mean. That's a hude advantage to me because I used to always have trouble with this old NKJV I used to have because all the text was not indented in one way. Does using anything but the KJV come into conflict with being a Latter-day Saint?

So, so, true.

I think that it can be interpreted fairly literally. If we're going to say "but the earth is millions of years old!" and "evolution" ... you know, that sort of thing, well there's a really simple answer to that. We're just interpreting evidence, we're using your minds to arrive at understanding. Evolution, Scientific Cosmology, etc, are just theories.

I think it's clear that Global Warming is caused by the sunspots changing, and now we're just coming out of it from the Middle Ages. It also is looking like 2008 has been the coldest year of the century. That number of scientists dissenting is grossly underestimated, though, I have seen reports which say up to 30,000 scientists have questioned global warming. It's just a good excuse for taxes, among other things, like Green Corps.

Rapture?
Aesa replied to Aesa's topic in Learn about The Church of Jesus Christ Of Latter-day Saints
I knew Latter-day Saints didn't believe in the pre-trib rapture. But they kind of believe in the post-trib rapture, if you interpret it according to proverbs 10:30. -
What I was more trying to get at is that we suggest topics to each other ... to help people who might like to journal but just don't know how to get started. That sort of thing.

Well I'm not surprised. You just brought up memories of wanting so much to see the giant Buddha's in afghanistan. The difference, in Christian thought, as far as I understand is that Buddha is dead and Jesus is not.

When did LDS Church officials think polygamy was "fun"?Obviously I understand that obeying the commandments of God brings fullness of joy - but that doesn't mean some are much harder on us at time to time than others.

Rapture?

Taken from the earth?I thought it was never to be taken away again? Or is that just the restoration of truth? -
There doesn't appear to be any "suggest a board" place - so I'll post here. I read that Spencer W. Kimball's "journal was 33 black binders on the shelves of his personal study when President Spencer W. Kimball was called to be President of the Church in 1973. Since then, he has frequently counseled and exhorted members of the Church to keep personal journals." Anyway, if you don't understand what I'm getting at - I'd love to see a board created where we can discuss our journals, what we like to write about, what we have written about, share suggestions for topics to write about, etc,. Opinions?

Recently for me, I decided to "take the plunge," and to read the Book of Mormon and to start regularly praying to Heavenly Father and trying to obey His commandments. There have been many times when I've been praying to Him, talking about the Book of Mormon, the Saviour, the Church and just bursted into tears, felt joy, or peace. I know you asked for "another faith," and there are some there - but nothing that compare to this.

There's contention between evangelicals in regards to whether Christ will come before the 7 years tribulation and take the true church -- or whether it will be after. I personally think the saints will be on the earth during the tribulation. Proverbs 10:30 states that "The righteous shall never be removed: but the wicked shall not inhabit the earth." In the Parable of the Wheat and Tares, described in Matthew 13:24-30, God: Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. As Jesus says in this parable, the wicked will be the ones taken and the righteous will be put in the barn. But what does LDS doctrine say about this?

How do I answer some of these anti - questions??
Aesa replied to Michael Spikes05's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
Well, yes, that's absolutely true. You'd have to reject things such as the Nicene creed, among other creeds. -
Worship is reserved for the Living God and His Son Jesus Christ, who communicate to us through the Holy Ghost.

One n, one. I think that's a pretty silly thing to say. -
This is a tough one, you have the libertarian ideals - which I don't know, I feel would lead one to say everyone should have the right to choose. But then again, take onto account the responsibility of the parents or the society is what I feel it comes down to.

It's absolutely okay to disagree with a religions tenets if it is not morally correct.

Your food storage can be used for more than yourself. To give a meal to those who perhaps had never thought about being prepared.

One question on mind is - with the book printing, is it limited to 100 pages? Or are those examples ... just examples? I tend to write fairly long entries, for example last night I wrote one that is about 3,000 words ... and as the months and years go by I'm sure you can see that stacking up. So what happens if I wanted to print a 500 page book? Would I have to do it in volumes (which I guess wouldn't matter)?

All this talk of private schools reminds me of Ron Paul on the health system -- which as government involvement has increased has become more expensive and less accessible.

Latter-day Saints call it the sacrament, yes? I remember that Catholic's believe it becomes the literal body (bread) and blood (wine - but Lds don't use it do they?) of Christ when it is commanded to by a priest - is this also true for Latter-day Saints? Or is it simply in rememberance of Christ? - and His being crushed - contrasting; the crushing of the bread in the mouth.

Oh my, I remember going to that with my mother once. But obviously it was a negatively powered experience along with others because I'm not in the church today. Does the Church have a 25th December service?
