  1. Today I was out getting myself a large cup of White Chocolate Soy Decaf Mocha (it's my all-time favourite ). But something hit me when I payed the 5.95 for the drink: this is almost enough to pass on 2 copies of the Book of Mormon onto someone, 3 dollars more and it'd buy a compact faithfold (wallet sized copy of New Testament, Faithfold.com). I actually thought to myself, you know, that I want to promise that I'm not going to be so selfish as to enjoy my coffee and think of no one else. Has anyone else had these sort of thoughts? I know obviously, that the majority of LDS do not drink coffee -- but you get the idea of the question in general I hope.
  2. No person is an island. Find fellowship for support.
  3. Healthwise, probably not. When you chew, your body percieves this as food coming toward the stomach and starts getting ready ... so you can "strip" layers off your stomach.
  4. On my mind has been the notion that most of the unique doctrines, some claim, were added post-BoM. Apparently this lowers the BoM in it's credibility since it claims to be the "most correct of any book on Earth." As I was reading Helaman this evening, I came across the following verses: Hel. 3: 29-30 29 Yea, we see that whosoever will may lay hold upon the aword of God, which is bquick and powerful, which shall cdivide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and dnarrow course across that everlasting egulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked— 30 And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls, at the aright hand of God in the kingdom of heaven, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and with Jacob, and with all our holy fathers, to go no more out. Now is not Christ at the right hand of God? Acts 7: 55-5 55 But he, being full of the aHoly Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the bglory of cGod, and dJesus estanding on the fright hand of God, 56 And said, Behold, I asee the heavens bopened, and the cSon of man standing on the right dhand of eGod. What about us? John 14:2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you." Is there anything in the Bible which specifically says we can "land our souls at the right hand of God"?
  5. What do you mean? Here is some of the article that I've linked to in my first post:
  6. You make a good point. However I would not personally use the word command -- instead I would use the word "ordinance" or "allows" as this implies exactly what we have seen in the Bible and in more recent times. God allows it, in certain circumstances.
  7. Indeed, you could say we do battle with temptation -- evil.
  8. And, the Spirit.
  9. Specifically I refer to the inverted pentacles on the Nauvoo temple. They were there in Joseph Smiths Nauvoo temple, and Gordon B. Hinckley in his vow to keep the temple basically true to the Joseph design -- kept the pentacles. Obviously this gives some people a bit of a "terror" when they see them. What I've got in mind is this -- they almost definitely had not negative satanic connotation when Joseph Smith used them, so what meaning did the symbol have at the time? I hear of it being a symbol for the 5 wounds of Christ, but since he was beaten and bled from ever pore .... that's more than 5 wounds right? I just googled and found something interesting: The Ancient Pentagram - A Christian Symbol | TempleStudy.com - LDS (Mormon) Temple Study Blog
  10. Polygamy hasn't been practiced by the Church for over 100 years.
  11. LOL! Well, too bad then. Do non-metrosexual people dress differently in your part of the world?
  12. The problem is that our money isn't "hard cash," tell me, what gives our money value? The amount that's in circulation. This is also known as inflation. The other thing that controls our money is the amount of debt owed back to the central bank, which can never be repaid. But it's backed by absolutely nothing, it is worthless paper. Commodity standards were removed from currency because it gave the money a value which couldn't be controlled by the bankers (i.e., the value of gold).
  13. It's all engineered. Before the big collapse, big financial luminaries will quietly exit the markets. That's the only reason why the collapse hasn't already happened -- they're securing their assets. You might want to ask yourself why there have been multiple depressions since the Federal Reserve Act was enacted in the early 1900's. Is it just the way money is? Or is our monetary system engineering these collapses, to benefit international bankers, and so forth?
  14. Oh come on, what "at the top" International Banker is good hearted? Start using unfiltered non-corporate news networks, and you begin to get the picture. What's happening here is an engineered collapse, it's absolutely built into our monetary system. Totally designed tyrrnay to take away our liberties and freedoms. Why do you think military is going to be deployed on the streets? To protect Americans my butt! To stop riots, and to try and prevent complete social breakdown. Basically to maintain the status quo.
  15. I'd have to go out of my scope and say no. Since the true church is restored, the only place to recieve true spiritual gifts is the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. There's "One faith, One baptism..." But at the same time, I don't know, God still wants to lead His children to the truth. I guess.
  16. In Jesus name. :)
  17. The bailout is mostly being used my criminal bankers to consolidate assets.
  18. This makes me think of a model. Good models have a "plain" appearance -- so they're like a canvas and can fit many looks. So in the same sense, a missionary is plainly dressed so they aren't the focus?
  19. Thank-you. I've found two phone numbers, so, I'll ring one of those numbers sometime during the week. Of the two, one is reffered to as an "alternate" number -- so does that mean it's the phone number of the bishop at home? It's 2.15 PM on a sunday now, so I wholeheartedly assume that there's no services going on now. Are the mettinghouses only open on Sunday?
  20. The problem is, were living in a debt based currency system. It's interesting to note that all the major world wars and depressions have happened since the federal reserve was created in the early 1900's.
  21. You honestly think the government gives two hoots about much of the constitution?
  22. What do you mean? I get the feeling perhaps there was a possiblity of animal sacrifice and dissenters dramatised it and said "they're sacrificing humans in their temples!"
  23. I've just looked at an article on this, and I'm not sure I understand your disagreement. 533k job losses is the highest number of people to lose their jobs in a short period, in 34 years. link
  24. Probably. Corporate media loves to scare you.
  25. It's a little more than that. You also have to take into account that since the Federal Reserve Act was put into place, most of the worlds nations have enacted similar systems of centralised banking control. This allows for the people who control the federal reserve, yes it is private, to control the amount of money in supply and thus also control society. And then since it has interest attached to each dollar that is loaned from the central bank, where does the money to pay the outstanding debt come from when you take into account that all money has this percentage of debt attached to it? The whole system, if you look at the way things are "panning out" is destroying the middle class. The rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer, in other words the wealth gap is increasing. I had a look at the money management course on provident living. From the words of that course, and especially the voice clips of Gordon B. Hinckley, I get the feeling most Mormons would support a debt free currency (same thing founding fathers wanted, and as Benjamin Franklin said -- was probably the prime cause of the revolution [escaping Britians central bank]) would I be right in thinking that?
