  1. The Internet Grocer also has a bunch of recipes at Dehydrated Foods Recipes - Using your food storage
  2. Here are a couple of recipe links. The first is for canned meats (can be used for any canned meats), the second is for dehydrated foods: http://www.internet-grocer.net/meatrecp.htm http://www.internet-grocer.net/recipes.htm
  3. WyomingEMT: I hope you properly repackaged those 50 bags of foods. Many items (wheat, in particular) come with bug eggs already in them. If the foods are not repackaged and canned with oxygen absorbers, or diatomaceous earth, you end up with a bag containing dust and dead insects. mrmarklin: I constantly counsel people NOT to store water. It's extremely dangerous. A much better solution is to get a *quality* water filter, like the AquaRain which filters to 99.9999% (pictures are on my website). You can then safely drink about 30,000 gallons of lake, pond, river, pool or puddle water on ONE set of filter "candles". Hope this helps! Bruce
  4. Antsyl, The radical, far-left has been at work for decades *stealing* our country. They now have control of entertainment, education and 99% of news outlets. I believe they think they now have enough power to take total power (with Obama in power). It's now only a matter of time ... within a year, I think, until our Republic is totally deconstructed. It's time to get prepared!
  5. Products - Emergency, storable foods and other products that Best Prices Storable Foods sells discounts Walton's product line, plus has canned meats, cheese and butter.
  6. One book you might want to look at is JUST ADD WATER (if you store dehydrated foods). You can read about it at Book - Just Add Water, How To Use Dehydrated Foods and TVP Best regards, Bruce
  7. As for a wheat grinder, please read the write up for the Family Grain Mill at Grain Mill - The Family Grain Mill and Attachments It's reasonably priced and easy to grind by hand ... and it has a wide variety of attachments that can be added.
  8. I've been raising chickens for 3+ years. Some tips: 1. They need at least 12 hours of light/day (14 is preferred) to keep laying eggs, so plan on artificial light on a timer. Fluorescent light won't work. Stock up on 100W bulbs (before they're all outlawed. It's already happening.) 2. Chickens will destroy a vegetable garden, so it needs to be fenced in, if you let your chickens free-range (which is a good idea, it saves on feed and reduces your insect problems). 3. Chickens don't fly OVER things. They fly up to it, land on it, and then fly down to get to the other side. So, make your garden fence wobbly at the top. That will prevent them from being able to be "secure" at the "fly up" stage, and they won't get into your garden. Buy non-hybrid seeds for your garden, so you can harvest the seeds at the end of each season, in case your seed-supplier disappears. See Non-Hybrid Seed Pack, 25 varieties including nonhybrid sweet corn! for a really good deal on them. For storing water, the most practical and space-saving solution is to get a water filter. The best one out there is a gravity filter (uses no energy). See AquaRain Gravity Water Filter from Best Prices Storable Foods It filters 16-32 gallons/day, depending on the model. You can filter lake, pond or puddle water safely.
  9. I'm pretty sure the fascist government will consider *any* food storage or preparations as "hoarding". Marxists want everyone (except the privileged class) "equal", so whatever food preps you made will be confiscated "for the common good" (or redistributed to the elites' pantries). If any readers voted for Obama, I hope they repent... The "change" that's coming will not be good for our Republic.
  10. Government no longer follows the Constitution, so there's no protection in the Amendments. Dumbed-down Americans have elected our first Marxist president ... who *will* wreck the economy and redistribute the wealth, which will likely include your food storage in time of emergency. Hunker down. America's CHANGING, just like he promised.
  11. Yes, that's what I'm saying. (Maybe my lack of higher education doesn't get the message across.) I don't understand what you mean by "How it is necessary". Since we've abandoned God as our "government", we have no choice but to submit to [a] man's rule. Bruce
  12. Man's government has never been benevolent. By NATURE it's oppressive (and prepare for the *most* oppressive government in US history, beginning January 20, 2009). Are you skimming my posts, or really reading them and thinking them through?
  13. I'm not sure you're thinking through the Scripture I quoted. It doesn't really apply to what God ALLOWED, it applies to what man DID. As to the D&C reference, when D&C conflicts with Bible Scripture, I side with the Bible. Bruce
  14. Remember, in the book of I Samuel, when the Israelites asked for a king to rule over them? They didn't want Samuel's corrupt sons to judge them, they wanted a king to rule them. "And the Lord said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected me, that I should not reign over them." I Samuel 8:7 KJV And He goes on to tell them that the ruling king (government) will take their sons for his army (the draft), take their daughters for bakers and cooks, institute an income tax, take a portion of their servants and flocks, and make the Israelites his servants. "And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day." I Samuel 8:18 KJV That was the beginning of HUMAN GOVERNMENT of the Israelites ... when they rejected God's government. Read the context. According to Daniel's prayer of praise, when God revealed to him that he would not perish with the men of Babylon, "[God] removeth kings, and setteth up kings" Daniel 2:21 (see also Daniel 4:17) which gives man's government legitimacy ... but that doesn't change the fact that--had man not rejected God as his Governor--there would be no need for *man's* government. Hence, it's a necessary evil. Bruce
  15. You *really* don't need to buy "specially canned" foods. There's a fascinating article about 2 instances where 100+ year-old canned food was discovered and found to be edible. See How long will canned foods store? Use your local grocery store for food storage!
  16. I think this use of government force against us will worsen under the incoming administration. Government is NOT--and never has been--the FRIEND of people. It has ALWAYS been the oppressor of people. It's just a necessary evil. Read the writings of our Founding Fathers.
  17. Yours is my *favorite* reply! EVERYONE has *something* that they "hoard", even if it's canned pie filling.... Way to go! Bruce
  18. I prefer that TP comes off the top of the roll, but I'm not obsessive about it. We had a part-time employee who changed it to come off the bottom EVERY time he used the restroom. There *is* a valid reason to have it come off the bottom: That's if you own cats. They discover the fun of unrolling the entire roll if it's installed to come off the top. That won't happen if it comes off the bottom. Oh, we don't have cats....
  19. Nowhere in Scripture that I can find, Skyler, is creation described as a long, drawn out process. The theory of evolution seeks to make "how we got here" something the human mind can wrap itself around. It takes away from the power and majesty of God. When one accepts that God could do, and DID do, all this in 6 days, one is forced to one's knees in honor and admiration and awe of such a mighty God. That's called worship. Modern man doesn't like to worship ... nor to submit. I admit *my* mind is too small to understand the HOW of creation. If I could understand it, I'd be equal to God, and I'm certainly not! But just because I can't understand the how, doesn't mean it didn't happen. The Hebrew word for Day (yom) means a 24-hour period ... and Jesus endorsed creation. I choose to believe the One who was raised from the dead by the power of God. Hopefully you read my previous post regarding science. Best regards, Bruce
  20. True science is not in conflict with the Bible. My assertion is that the theory of evolution is not true science. It was formulated by a man who did not have all the facts that we now have regarding the complexity of life, of even a single cell (which Stein illustrates in Expelled). What's astounding today is that the scientific community won't even PERMIT the discussion of intelligent design (the whole theme of Expelled). The Bible is the history of Man's fall and God's scheme of redemption. It's couched in historical places, many of which still exist. It was written by real people who actually lived and it was faithfully transcribed through the centuries. If I remember right, it was in the late 50's or early 60's when a copy of the book of Isaiah was found that was a thousand years older than the the most recent copy then in a museum. When the two were compared, scholars found 6 minor translation differences, and later one of the translators said that two of the changes should have been left alone. A short, easy read regarding the reliability of the New Testament documents is F.F. Bruce's, The New Testament Documents, Are They Reliable? There is also tons of info on the 'net regarding Christian evidences. The theory that the Bible is not historical was put to bed in the 50's/60's. Israel was a nation, The Babylonians existed, as did the Assyrians and the Medo-Persians and all the other nations with whom the Israelites interacted or were taken captive by. Noah can't be "proved", but there is a strong argument for his existence in this: Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. He claimed to be God. What God says is true. And Jesus referenced Noah. He also said that God CREATED the world/universe. But people don't read, let alone study, their Bibles. And they tend to jump to conclusions when they DO read them. For example: Who were Adam's and Eve's first children? Genesis (Moses) doesn't say. Cain and Abel are brought up to show what sacrifice to God is about and to show the first murder. But, if you read carefully, it doesn't say who their first children were, nor how many they might have had before Cain and Abel. (Thinking that through also explains "where Cain got his wife" and probably what "there were giants in the earth in those days" means.) Oh, and Jesus also told us that "Moses wrote", so he also was a historical figure.
  21. Not sure *I'm* the one who needs to open his mind. I believed in the THEORY of evolution for years. Then someone showed me that the Bible was an historical record, not just a book of fairy tales. I see that you've not seen Ben Stein's Expelled, because he shows Hitler's use of Darwinism to justify his slaughters. Disprove for me the historicity of the Bible, and I'll revert to atheism and believing in Darwin's fantasy. The Bible clearly states that the world/universe was SPOKEN into existence by God ... not just in Genesis, but throughout the Books. See Biblical - Evolution. So You Think Evolution is Biblical? I still stand amazed that this needs to be defended on THIS forum. But, I've already surrendered, given up. YOU WIN, remember? You have no Faith. You have "Science". You don't need God.... I wish you the best!
  22. You win. I surrender. My god is not powerful enough to speak the universe/world into being. Long live Darwin. Thank Whoever for "higher education". Bruce
  23. As a holder of only a GED (1984), perhaps this only illustrates my ignorance, but IMO, had Darwin understood the complexity of a single CELL--as we know it today--there would have been no Origin of Species. Likewise with his non-knowledge of DNA. I'm still waiting for an explanation of how "nature" knew to evolve the EYE. I see clinging-to-evolution as merely a way to "justify" sinful behavior. If there's no One to answer to (a Creator), you can do whatever you want. That's one of the points of Ben Stein's film: Hitler did the things he did because of Darwinism evolution. (I find it a bit amazing that Creationism has to be defended here....)
  24. One thing that always crosses my mind when Noah's ark is referred to as a boat is that it *might* just have been a huge box. That would have provided more room for animals and food. I don't think Noah had anywhere to sail to ... he was just to supposed to keep the fauna alive. (Maybe this should be its own thread...)
  25. Regarding the conflict between science and religion, if you haven't seen Ben Steins' Expelled, No Intelligence Allowed, I strongly urge you to get a copy. The DVD can be had for about $13 on eBay.
