Heh, what is disturbing about people who think that we need to be born again through Christ? Should we run and hide from such people? Should we avoid the opportunity to share what we know about the gospel? Should we lock the doors against such people, possibly because we already have too many other people to share the gospel with? What is it exactly that we should be concerned about?

I believe that we should be concerned about people calling them selves Born Again Mormons who are secretly infiltrating the church in disguise sounds like "Wolves in Sheep’s Clothing" to me. ;)

Is that testimony always truthful? Do people ever claim to have headaches when they really don't?

This is my take on this:

    tes·ti·mo·ny ( P ) Pronunciation Key (tst-mn)

    n. pl. tes·ti·mo·nies

    1.

    a. A declaration by a witness under oath, as that given before a court or deliberative body.

    b. All such declarations, spoken or written, offered in a legal case or deliberative hearing.

    2. Evidence in support of a fact or assertion; proof.

    3. A public declaration regarding a religious experience.

I believe the testimony that we are speaking of here is number 3.

When a person gives a testimony they are coming from their own experience to have it be Their Testimony. Is it Truthful? I can only speak for myself when I say "yes". Do people ever claim to have a headache when they don't? Maybe... but they are not giving a testimony of their headache. ;)

Does the lies of some totally destroy truth of others?

It CAN, given the lack of a proper foundation of that TRUTH.

Sure that can happen anywhere, but should it happen in a place that is deemed safe?

We can discuss these issues till the cows come home...the bottom line is...we don't have all the power to decree God lives or doesn't exist for others.

One thing we must all agree on....everyone will die....what happens next is all out of yours and my hands. LOL

True Peace... but my point in this question is how can we "logically" discuss religion with someone who believes in NO religion or No God? It is VERY POINTLESS.

They who don't or won't believe for some reason will always cry out "FARCE"

Those who believe will say "TRUTH".

Surely, before that time the cows will have come home, feed, and put to bed. B)

Definitely. There are no gods that I'm aware of.

    AS8,

From what I gather from you, you used to be a TBM. I am also aware of some of the fallacies you find in the LDS church. Can I ask what happened to make you totally turn away from the belief in God?

  6. In this post there have been some who have made statements of an imaginary God, or if God even exists. If someone who you had respect for can up to you and asked you if you believed in God...What would you say? What is really in your hearts? Are you anti Mormon or are you anti deity? Are you comfortable with denying God?

I still stand by my belief that temporally our trials can hurt our faith and our testimonies. That is what has happened to me this past year. I did feel very lost, confused, and alone. I am happy to say that I am building back my testimony with a new strength backing me. :D I don't feel like I need to repent for my feelings any more then I expect an apology for having been given them. To me trials make me stronger for what I have yet to endure.

I will be away from my office for the next few days. I am not avoiding this topic. :)

  8. Maybe I am non repentant; therefore sinful. Being sinful I desreve these trials? Why do bad things happen to good people?

What I have to say to this is~

    Balderdash! or I disagree. ;)

I just can't be 100% perfect or repent for no reason just for the sake of repenting. Repentance should be heartfelt and not repetitious.

I have yet to become so enlightened...

  9. I can relate to what Peace is saying with her bishop. I currently have similar feelings in my situation.

Curvette is right too in that I am being forced to dig deeper into my soul for the tools to get me where I need to go.

I spent most of my time with my mom the month before she passed away last March. She began telling me things that she could see. I believe that the veil was becoming very thin for her during those last weeks. My mom was not afraid of the things in which she saw... they gave her comfort. Since that time I have come to feel that the reason many people go into a coma before the die is because of the things that they are in tune with.

(tears) SF -- I lost my mom on Thanksgiving Day '03. Reading that... brought it (memories of her passing) back in a good way.

    Blessed,

I am so sorry that you lost your mother as well. :(

This has not been an easy time for me. Please let me know if you want to talk.

I am happy that my post was able spark something good for you. :)

    God's Army wasn't too bad.

But Singles Ward, I promise I think I have mental wounds from watching it. It just hurt me.

You have a point. This is something that the producers of these films should know.

When I saw the movie Two Weeks Notice I was bothered by a comment that Sandra Bullock's Character said. She was talking to a friend and she was explaining why she didn't go to this benefit with her boss. She said that she didn't go because he also invited another woman from work to go. She then said something like this... "Why would I go with him...who take more then one woman to dinner at a time...except in Utah." No wonder the mormon church still has polygamy attached to it, it is allowed to be carelessly "Blibbed and Blubbed" (my own words) in the media. Not that it did any good, but I sent them an email stating my disapproval.

When I saw the Singles Ward the humor was funny because I could relate to it living in UT.

    Here is the message. :D

    Visiting Teaching Message

Feeling the Love of the Lord Daily in Our Lives

    Ensign, January 2004

Prayerfully select and read from this message the scriptures and teachings that meet the needs of the sisters you visit. Share your experiences and testimony. Invite those you teach to do the same.

Bonnie D. Parkin, Relief Society general president: "If I could have one thing happen for every woman in this Church, it would be that they would feel the love of the Lord in their lives daily. I have felt the love of the Lord in my life, and I am so thankful for that" ("Feel the Love of the Lord," Liahona, July 2002, 95; Ensign, May 2002, 84).

As We Love Him, What Does Our Gracious God Promise Us?

1 Corinthians 2:9: "Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him."

2 Nephi 1:15: "The Lord hath redeemed my soul from hell; I have beheld his glory, and I am encircled about eternally in the arms of his love."

President Gordon B. Hinckley: "Love of God is the root of all virtue, of all goodness, of all strength of character, of all fidelity to do right. . . . Love the Lord your God, and love His Son, and be ever grateful for Their love for us. Whenever other love fades, there will be that shining, transcendent, everlasting love of God for each of us and the love of His Son, who gave His life for each of us" ("Words of the Living Prophet," Liahona, Dec. 1996, 8; "Excerpts from Recent Addresses of President Gordon B. Hinckley," Ensign, Apr. 1996, 73).

1 Nephi 11:22–23: "The love of God . . . sheddeth itself abroad in the hearts of the children of men; wherefore, it is the most desirable above all things . . . and the most joyous to the soul."

What Can We Do to Feel the Love of the Lord Each Day?

Jacob 3:2: "Lift up your heads and receive the pleasing word of God, and feast upon his love; for ye may, if your minds are firm, forever."

Elder Gene R. Cook of the Seventy: "True gratitude is the ability to humbly see, feel, and even receive love. Gratitude is a form of returning love to God. Recognize His hand, tell Him so, express your love to Him. As you come to truly know the Lord, you will find an intimate, sacred relationship built on trust. You will come to know He understands your anguish and will, in compassion, always respond to you in love.

"Receive it. Feel it. It is not enough just to know that God loves you. The gift is to be felt continually day by day. It will then be a divine motivator throughout your life. Repent. Remove any worldliness from your life, including anger. Receive a continual remission of your sins, and you will bridle all your passions and be filled with love" ("Charity: Perfect and Everlasting Love," Liahona, July 2002, 92–93; Ensign, May 2002, 83).

  14. I found this web site.

    http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/fra...eset_search.asp

How have others found the information they needed without going to the Library downtown? Some of the sites want you to join them as a member and pay for the information. I want to do this searching but I don't want to feel guilty for joining and then not doing it. I am also interested in the histories of my ancestors. Is there a place where those can be found as well?
