  1. If you joined now you would be about like 5 million other members. Unconverted and uncommitted. This is a religion of commitment. You will get out of it much more than you will ever give.
  2. "Dry" Mormons. Folks looking and waiting for the opportunity to recieve the fullness of the gospel.
  3. If you have recieved a testimony that the Gospel is true, it's true. If you choose to hang you hat on something that someone said or did long ago that may or may not have been correct, you will always be blown to and fro. Is the gospel true? Are you a child of God? Are we all equal in His sight? Yes now, tomorrow, and forever. If you are looking for a reason not to come back, I guarantee you will find it.
  4. Well, having been in law enforcement I can testify that sometimes adrenaline can affect judgement. If I saw someone swerve and hit (even glancing) a fellow officer I would be sorely tempted to embellish arrest procedures. THe fact that the guy was already unconcious sure didn't help. I would have revived him, THEN beat him.
  5. Google homepage. You determine everything on there.
  6. I agree with the others. Just have to use your imagination. Don't be so rough on yourself. Keep up the good fight. You'll prevail!
  7. When people have honestly asked me I tell them it's much like a priests vestments, Rabbi's Yarmulka, or a prayer shawl. Just a reminder of covenants. Now as far as dealing with people that whose goal is to make you look foolish, just walk away. Consider the source.
  8. Probably probation first. Then parole.
  9. In the past only one open house has been conducted. I'm not sure what was done about the one that was burned.

    Hello

    1. The scriptures don't mention if he was married or not. Maybe he was martyred before he had the opportunity. The prophets are here to tell us what God wants and expects, in addition to the example set by Jesus. 2. We are saved through Christ. We are exalted through the temple. People that have never been to the temple are saved. 3. The temple is a sacred place, special above all others. Even the aincient temples had requirements for entry. Sure, families are sacred. Thats why there is a plan for EVERYONE. 4. My opinion is that the Book of Mormon was speaking metaphorically. This teaches that the Lamanites were a cursed people, not every dark person. Before too long the church will be mostly dark people anyway! Thats like saying "the lamanites had red hair. so God hate redheads". Just answer the Question "Did Joseph Smith find and translate the Book of Mormon?" . If he did, then we ought to follow along. If he didn't, don't waste your time.
  12. Vasectomy is not an issue, You are good to go. If your cursed by what you did before your conversion, we are all hosed. I joined the church at 21 after many mistakes. There are plenty of kids out there to adopt that need loving parents to be sealed to them for eternity. Just get a testimony, get baptised and don't look back
  13. Ha. It says "quick reply". A crossroad has come into your life and you have to take it. You will have to live with it possibly for eternity. I grew up in an LDS community as a non-member and was the recipient of a coupe "crossroads" decisions. Thank God they decided the way they did. I eventually joined the church and the girls that chose better have been greatly blessed. I still love them but not as much as the convert that found me after my mission. 30+ years now.
  14. I must echo the comments of Inner Gold. Just jump in. Show the friendliness that you want to recieve from your new friends. A smile and a handshake will come right back at you. Jump right in, get a calling, build the kingdom RIGHT WHERE YOU ARE!
  15. Participated in ROTC in college which helped pay for my degree. 28+ years of service so far. Don't let anyone tell you there is no way to pay your way through college. Me, my wife and my son all paid (are paying) for school through GI Bill. No JROTC in my high school at the time. It seems much like marching band or drill team, can be percieved as cool or nerdy depending on the school / city. :tank:
