  1. All I know is that the Catholic church doesn't recognize any other baptism, so any convert would have to attend classes for several months. There are other denominations that recognize LDS baptism, so a potential convert would be accepted as a member if they chose to join.

Well the Catholic Church is the only church, as an orginzation, that doesnt have a problem with us, partly because we dont give them crap like other churches have and partly because they Think that the gospel never left the earth, meaning that they are right, or that it did in which case them and all other breakoffs of there church, Which I think is most of the Christian faiths out there, are wrong in which case God would need to restore the Gospel Hince Joseph Smiths first vision and the events after that, In fact they even defended us after that nasty home Invasion commercial came out.

  2. There is no "shunning" in Mormonism, and any fall out will strictly be cultural and not spiritual. Essentially there are three options:

    1. Request for removal of records

    2. Excommunication'

    3. Inactivity

The last one hasn't been discussed, but basically, you just stop going, and from time to time, people from the church will contact you, simply because they don't know you are no longer interested in having contact. Your records remain, and if the church discovers you have moved, they move your records to your new ward, and someone form the church may contact you, but often times you just fall through the cracks.

As, to the post about the love of Christ. That all falls within LDS belief, but the experience is only the first step. Remember when Christ said strait is the gate, and narrow the way. Well, do you stop walking when you get to the gate? No, you walk through it. This is done via the ordinance of Baptism, and is an outward sign of our inner conversion. Then we continue on the path of righteousness. We don't just sin and expect God to cover our butts. It's a path, not a bench.

lol The funny thing that Ive heard is that when someone is in active you keep meeting them assigning them hometeachers ect ect. Eventually theyll do one of two things, Theyll start becomeing active again, Yay!, or theyll ask you how they can can get you to leave them alone, If they do that you then give them that letter that says I nolonger want to be a member of the church 'your name here' if they sign thats there choice, if not then you now have an open door to start teaching them again.

  3. “On the sad character Cain, an interesting story comes to us from Lycurgus A. Wilson’s book on the life of David W. Patten. From the book I quote an extract from a letter by Abraham O. Smoot giving his recollection of David Patten’s account of meeting “a very remarkable person who had represented himself as being Cain.”

‘As I was riding along the road on my mule I suddenly noticed a very strange personage walking beside me… His head was about even with my shoulders as I sat in my saddle. He wore no clothing, but was covered with hair. His skin was very dark. I asked him where he dwelt and he replied that he had no home, that he was a wanderer in the earth and traveled to and fro. He said he was a very miserable creature, that he had earnestly sought death during his sojourn upon the earth, but that he could not die, and his mission was to destroy the souls of men. About the time he expressed himself thus, I rebuked him in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by virtue of the holy priesthood, and commanded him to go hence, and he immediately departed out of my sight…” (Miracle of Forgiveness, Spencer W. Kimball, pg 127, 1969)

I heard this same story but it was changed and said he met bigfoot

  4. I wouldn't call it a miracle, its science, millions of asteroids hit the earth every year, most burn up in the atmosphere before getting to the surface, a 23 foot asteriod would mostly burn up before hitting the earth, could it have cause a problem? yes, but its certainly not a planet killer.

Sorry, but IMHO this article is long on religion and short on (real) science.

Actually the laws of nature can be called laws of god, So miracles are just undiscovered laws of nature or there know laws of nature being used in ways we havent thought of, electricty is a perfect example of this, Wouldnt our daily use of it be condisered a miracle.

Oh there was this one astroid that they called fireball. It skipped on the ozone layer like a stone skipping on water

  5. Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins by one of priesthood authority is required, even Jesus Himself went to John the Baptist to get baptized and I think God would want you to be baptized by someone he approved of, which would be by someone with the priesthood and the Laying on of hands for the gift of the holy ghost sounds reasonable to me because he communicates to his children with the still small voice, the holy ghost, Elijah learned this after the challenge to the false priests.

  6. listen to President Uchtdorf's and then President Eyring's talk, President Uchtdorf's said that he saw these two desks as a kid and he could just picture them learning and dong homework on them and that having a desk would be the most wonderful thing for him then President Eyring went up there to give his talk and he had his oil with him to help with his talk and he says that he keeps the oil stocked around him so hes always ready to give a blessing and he holds up one and says this is the one i keep in my desk at work the he turns to President Uchtdorf and says "I have a desk"

  7. REALLY??? Spill the beans! Which Republicans do you find able to do their jobs? :D

I actually find that most politicians are unable to do there job or are to lazy to finish what they started and they just throw it onto the next generation.

  8. Your Type is

    INFP

    Introverted Intuitive Feeling Perceiving

    56 62 38 44

If its accurate or not doesnt matter, this fits me pretty well but not compleatly, Then again people always think of themselves differently than others do.

"INFPs are flexible and laid-back, until one of their values is violated. In the face of their value system being threatened, INFPs can become aggressive defenders, fighting passionately for their cause. When an INFP has adopted a project or job which they're interested in, it usually becomes a "cause" for them. Although they are not detail-oriented individuals, they will cover every possible detail with determination and vigor when working for their "cause".

that however is 110% true. hee hee hee

Oh and welcome to MTW ark Im shadow on there
