:(Well, after surviving a semester at uni on the subject I am convinced it is all a con. Please, can someone explain why billions of dollars of tax payer's money has to be donated to Copenhagen to "save the planet"? And while you are at it, explain just how? For real? Are they going to stick all those dollar bills together and make a gigantic umbrella for the earth? Oh please, please, please explain how our hard earned money is going to make any difference - let me not get started on the what! But I will mention briefly - scientists who deny global warming are ignored and their funding cut! The governments fund those who cry panic - "let's save the planet!" Yeah, like we can make a flower bloom so therefore, we can change the weather! Anyone tried that lately? (Without lots of prayer?) Just a point in case - how many of our politicians are making many trips to and from these meetings - using up millions of dollars not to mention the fuels they burn flying. Have they given up their big energy consuming homes and cars or lifestyles? No, and why not you may ask? Because even if it were based on facts, there is no way they would ever consider doing without. Honestly, the Lord warns us about conspiring men - how dumb do these politicians think we are?

What does your intuition tell you? Don't be fooled. You are the mother of your boys, if you don't protect them then they will have to do what they need to in order to protect themselves. Parents are within their obligations to nurture and protect their children - that is our role as parents. Do not allow your children to be bullied, you will teach them violence is acceptable. If other children cannot behave then it is they who need to learn that in an LDS meetinghouse, it is never acceptable to assault or harass another. Boys will be boys - what a cop out! We are taught we are to put the natural man aside and how will these young men learn to be disciples of Christ if they are excused for beating up on the very boys who will be passing the sacrament along side them in a few years. Boys will be boys - rubbish! Animal behaviour is to be disciplined. Many a criminal is behind bars because they were excused as "boys".

Elgama, without going into why, I want you to know that I know what it is to be bullied, singled out and persecuted because of my standing for the truth against a mob of relief society sisters. Please remember always who it is you have covenanted with and keep your eyes firmly fixed on him, for he is the only one worthy to have your attention. Even if it does not conform to what others say, listen and obey the Holy Ghost, he is the oil in your lamp, be a wise virgin and keep that lamp filled with oil. We are told that we must go through trials and tribulations so we can be like the Saviour - Moroni 7:48. Though others may desert you the Lord never will; an added blessing to this is that you don't have to try and convince him of what is happening, he knows. Rest in his peace, find solace in his words, trust him, believe in him and believe him - he has earned the right to be your leader. Finally, he does not give you the spirit of fear but of faith; avoid those who would tear this down; sometimes we need to stay away from church in order for us to regroup and fortify ourselves. Never stop praying or seeking guidance through the scriptures. Remember Lehi's dream? Those who would partake of the fruit were subjected to persecution by those who had partaken but turned away. Remember also what Nephi said - heed them not. These people are necessary (albeit uncomfortably) for our growth and experience to make us like the Saviour; give yourself permission to honestly assess the situation and make decisions with regards to the safety of your family and you can stand up for yourself without becoming one of them. The Book of Mormon is so true and so applicable in our day, use these experiences to build your understanding and compassion levels for those who are also enduring painful paths. My love goes out to you dear sister, heed them not, they are not worthy of your time or energy. Use this energy for your eternal treasure, your family.

I'm new here, so please be gentle I'm from the land down under where we grow up eating vegemite on toast! I am a member of the church in a small branch which is a little like the large and spacious building in Nephi's dream but this has only served to make me stronger. I hope to make some friends who are LDS as well.
