I do not know enough about this to really have an opinion but, do I believe it was Possible that Jesus married during his mortality? Yes. Do I think he could have had kids? Yes. Do I think he actually did have kid(s)? No. The point is that we simply dont have all the facts. We cant discount Jesus being married or being a father simply because the scriptures do not mention it...after all nearly the whole of his life's account is missing from scripture. He drops off the RADAR at age 12 or so and then only resurfaces again when he takes on his ministry at age 30. A lot can happen between ages 12 and 30. And regarding Mary M. The Catholic church has admitted that her good name was tarnished wrongfully by the Catholic Church during the dark ages and has just in recent years admited it and stated that Mary M was not a whore after all. What I do find interesting is that Jesus showed himself to Mary M before anyone else...before his own mother, before his apostles, before his step-father Joseph, everyone. Why? Everything he did had a reason behind it. Nothing he did was just random. I do believe Jesus could have been married and could have had children...but I only think that he may have been married and I dont believe he had children. Why? Because His mission was to save the world and fulfill the law not to multiply and replinish the earth. With all that Jesus had to undertake, having children would have been very hard and Jesus may have looked like a negligent father being so busy. I shall ramble no more...

I dont get it? You like to fantisize about cutting things in two?

Have you noticed that when you see someone in dire need you think "Oh I wish I could help them" and sometimes you do actually try to help "as much as you can". For people in need you will donate time, energy, money,...but for a family member, a child a brother or sister, you dont say "I'll do what I can" instead you say "I'll climb up on this cross and die for you" "I'll make sure this is resolved" If we are just little things that God has made and fell in love with like a divine pet, why would He do what He does for us? PrisionChap, you compair us humans to dogs and Christ as the only begotten of God Almighty...why then does it make sense for the Master to sacrifice His "only" son for the family pets? I am a son of God. Created in the simlitued of the Begotten. My potential is to recieve All that the Father has as a joint heir with Christ. If I were the devil, I too would attack your most precious attribute, who you are. Thou son of man.

Perhaps we can give the smokers something like those oxygen masks in airplanes...only fill it with the smoke from their favorite brand of cigarette, which they purchase at the snack bar with their nachos. That way they dont have to go outside and can still get that fix without effecting others who dont smoke. Maybe even give them goggles so the smoke will be lightly in their eyes, as they are acustomed to? Its the wave of the future!!!!

You will know "by their fruit". Do they yeild mature fruit for their age? Ahead of their age? Or no. That is how you tell if your child is mature. They will behave maturly. I dont get why this is so hard. Seems pretty point blank to me.

By reading this post I just realized something. Well, two things really. 1. I now know there is a thing called "open forum" and 2. I cant get in. How does this work?

Of course I was just joking.

Luke 187:12 "And ye shall know my church by its abundant child care and hassle free sermons. 13 And if it proclaims the gospel in its fullness, having the priesthood and authority to act in the name of the Father and the Son yet it have no hassle free child care, it is surly of that evil one. Yay even the devil who wanted to take away the agency and free child care of man from the beginning.

Fainnan, a quote from the link you offered... The Mormon Church has often been criticized as rigidly patriarchal. Under Mormon beliefs, for example, women cannot attain the highest degree of celestial glory unless they are married, and only men are allowed to achieve full status as church members. This is a fine example of "ignorance is bliss". Women cannot attain the highest degree of the celestial glory unless they are married? Oh no!...oh, wait, that applys equally to the men. Ok, and now what about the women not being able to achieve "full status" as church members? Do we only baptize the women's feet? Every member of the Church is equal. I am just as much a member of the church as Gordon B Hinkley. Now, if they're refering to the priesthood offices then they are still very ignorant. Priesthood offices are male positions. There are numerous female positions in the church. Do we really think it would be productive to have some man teaching Relief Society? Thats a ticking time bomb! Sure the church is patriarchal, just as the Lord set it up. However, the women hold equal membership and hold high and essential offices and callings. Its almost not worth replying to this rubbish but I figure it was an easy 2 points so I went ahead and replied.

I'm sorry. I didnt mean that the children bother me when they're getting tired and fussy due to the hour long meeting. thats normal and expected. What I was talking about is when the kids are fighting over a toy, yelling at the top of their lungs or even walking the isles at random *this happens more than you may know* and the parent does nothing. Or worse when the parent decides to dicipline the child right there in sacrement! Thats what I was talking about.

I agree with PrisionChap. I think its silly to watch parents snag an extra piece of bread and put it into some kids mouth who is not only not old enough but facing the opposite direction, using the pew as a table for which he is coloring in his Elmo coloring book. All the kid is learning is "when I color in this book I get bread shoved in my face". What I do like to see are the kids that are almost old enough to be baptized get so excited about it that they want to start "practicing". I dont think its going to effect their eternal progression to take the sacrement early but lets be at least logical and wait until the child asks for it before we just start force feeding them a holy emblem. I look at it this way, Marriage is also sacred and holy, and we prepare for it by dating. We have an age minimum in our church of 16. Now, would it make sense to send out the younger than 16 year old kids out on dates or take them on dates with us so that they "can learn" how to date? How rediculous! I think it holds true to the sacrement also. And to answer PrisionChap's question of is Sacrement like The Lord's Supper the answer is its exactley the same. We partake of it weekly instead of at say, just Easter. But unlike the Catholics we feed ourself and the priests dont feed it to us.

as "ALatterDaySaint", who believes in the sealing ordanances of the Temple I believe that what kept Job from getting wroth with the Lord and life in general over the loss of his children is the knowledge he had that they were still litterally his children. Notice when Job is rewarded in the end the number of new children equals the number of children he "lost" yet everything else is roughly doubled in proportion. Why? Because the first group of children were/are still his children and if he'd had double that number on earth it would have trippled his reward. Thats the lesson that stands out to me even above the whole "trust in God" lesson. Or rather I should say this aspect reenforces "Trust in God".

Why Does Hell Have To Be Eternal?
ALatterDaySaint replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
I really enjoyed Travler's thoughts. I do see where he is comming from. Some of it though makes me think of Budisim and eternal reiencarnation towards enlightenment... Other than that it seems to me to be completely scripture founded. I do believe also that even if Satan turned back to the Lord that the atonement would be in full authority, and I base this on the fact that the Lord Christ has said "With God all things are possible". But, as several of you have stated already its not about Christ's decisions...its about ours and our free choice to "choose whom we shall serve". Now, lets say the devil did turn back to God...how would that play out? I guess he'd have to wait until another "earth" was started up again for more children and go there and gain a body... And another weird thing to think about is if all this is possible *and this is all just hypathetical* but if Satan could in theory repent then why not the demons? And if so have any demons repented and been able to "keep their first estate" and thus come to this earth and gain a body and partake of the plan of salvation???? This explains my nephew perfectly! hahaha! only joking on that part. But seriously, Traveler you spur many fun and insightful thoughts. Good show! -

Where do you think the term "Cold as H*ll" came from? If Hell is so hot... -
Thats a good point. Psycology will tell you that if something effects you personally you will use "soft" phrases like "he passed away" or "he left us". When its about someone else, like a news reporter giving news they use "hard" phrases such as "gunshot wound to the head" or "self inflicted gunshot wound". Who found out about this suicide? I would guess that if this person gave out such detail that there must have been a lenghthy conversation involved to get to the root of the situation in such gorry detail. Either way, its sad.

Why Does Hell Have To Be Eternal?
ALatterDaySaint replied to prisonchaplain's topic in LDS Gospel Discussion
The Lord has made worlds without number, and all the stars and sattelites in the universe. We reside on this sphere called Earth and the scriptures teach that the Lord lives on a sphere known to us as Kolob. The book of Rev. speaks of a lake of fire and LDS thology speaks of the Telestial kingdom as the glory of the stars. Perhaps this lake of fire is a description of the burning stars that those who gain a telestial glory will go. I mean why would there be a huge lake of fire out in the middle of no where that just happens to be large enough for all sinners to fit into? But it makes perfect sense that the lake of fire could be a burning star. There are more than enough stars out there for each sinner to get their own personal and lonly "lake of fire". Now, does the fire burn? "Is it Hot" as PrisionChap inquired... That I dont know, but I highly doubt it. I believe the most horrible aspect of judgment will be when the person you became stands face to face as it were with who you could have become. The goal of the Atonement was to gain access to the Father once again for all of us His children. That tells me that the punishment for not partaking in this plan wouldnt be physical torture but rather complete and utter seperation from God. And that of itself is more painful and horrifying and devistating than any burning flame. I believe a nice hot fire under my booty would be a welcome distraction to the fact that I could never recover from that state of eternal seperation from the one who created me and loved me beyond measure. Now, why do I believe that there are degrees of glory? Because while sin is the factor that seperats us from the divine there are greater and lesser sins. ALL sin disqualifies us from Heaven without the atonement but nonetheless there are greater and lesser sins. Such as, can you go to hell for running a stop sign? Its not on the Ten Commandments but we believe in being subject to kings, presidents, etc etc.. So just as in this life, when you get a speeding ticket you dont go to Prision and get Death Row but rather you pay a fine so it is in the eternities...you get whats comming to you. The punishment will fit the crime. So, if you belive that a 9 year old kid boy or girl who hasnt even had a chance to commit any real sin other than maybe steal some candy or tell a couple of lies or cheat on a test, and didnt recive the Lord as their savior, is going to be condemed the same as an adult who did get the chance but refused and then went out and killed or raped or flew a plain into a world trade center....then your idea of "just" is way out in left field. For God is Just and His house is order. -
That guy must have been really suffering. I hope I never know what its like to be so comfortless that I would opt to end my life.

What I get annoyed with are those that try to force their 4 year olds to take the sacrement. You know the ones, the sacrement is going so smoothy, so revrently and actually quietly...then that parent two rows up and 9 people over starts trying to force-feed the bread down their 3 or 4 year old's throat...then the kid gets mad and starts screaming...the parent refuses to stop and wont pass the tray until the kid is either choking on bread or a minimum of 2 min has passed. Then they sit there with a screaming kid for the remainder of the passing instead of taking them out into the hall. If you want to teach your child, thats GREAT but dont drive away the spirit from the rest of us for the sake of feeding your child some bread that they litterally do not need to take yet. Practice at home a few times if your kid is prone to freaking out. That would be awsome if some parents did that.

Here is one way to look at this. During the revolutionary war in the Americas the Brittish tried to fight the "triditional and honorable " way, by lining up in ranks and marching right at the enemy. This is a good stratagy when fighting with swords and clubs etc....but stupid beyond belief when firearms are involved. And if you will notice that when the Red Coats fought Natives teamed up with Colonist and irregular French forces who used the tactics of attacking from the side, blending in with the surroundings and primitive forms of gurrilla warfare the Brittish thought of them "Dishonorable" and cowardly ways of fighting...none the less they were winning. The only thing the Brittish really had to sustain them was money and sheer numbers. Today we're the Red Coats...are we going to stand in line and march to our death or are we gonna strap on some cammaflauge and start fighting this war in a way we can not only end it quickly but end it with us as the victors or are we going to follow the Genevia Conventions rules of war which at this point against this new enemy will get us killed almost as quickly as shooting ourselfs in the head? Do I believe there is a perminant line of moral and immoral in war? Sure, but I also believe that if people dont want to be tortured then they need to stop plotting against our people to destroy and kill us and our way of life.

There are a lot of fun and interesting and worthy topics that arent worth worrying about out there. But if we only discussed the ones worth worrying about we'd all be wound up so tight our heads would pop. Just like play is to work I think its good and healthy to ask the questions that we know we cant answer, just to get our minds wandering a little. And this question I think is most appropriate because asking where God came from is just like asking where your dad came from. Its our divine geneology. I personally would like to see all the geneology buffs gathered together in one place in the here-after, and then see the looks on their faces when they see the accounts of all the other worlds and peoples that are also our brethren that they can now trace and learn of. Like giving a fat kid free reign of Willy Wonka's factory and no umpa-lumpas around to mess with him!

You know, its getting so that its politically incorrect to kill a person during time of war. Here is what I found on "Black Sites". ---------------------------------------------- http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2005/11/01/AR2005110101644.html
