  1. Thanks. I am at the point where if I have to know the good and bad. I am not going to feel right continuing to wear garments, do temple work, and have my son singing about Joseph Smith if I cant know with all my heart who he was. I love the church and my ward. I just want to have the whole story so I can fully commit and start saying "I believe," instead of telling people what the church believes.
  2. Thanks for posting on this topic. I joined the church 2 1/2 yrs ago and was sealed to my hubby and son last Summer. I am really interested at this point in my life in knowing everything about Joseph Smith but don't want any details left out about his life. I have been on the internet too, and it is so hard to know what to believe! There are so many anti-mormon writings out there. I have learned to really lean on the spirit and pray about my questions. I am hoping to find true answers so I can build my testimony.
  3. Haha.... I am a new convert and that doesn't mean I can only learn from people in the church. You don't need to shield the converts. We were smart enough to recognize truth in doctrine enough to join this church. Just got back from an endowment session and I was just baptized last year. I think converts can find their way just fine. There are lots of other important things converts wonder about besides wings on angels, like Heavenly Mother and Kolob.
  4. Angels may not have wings, but just outside the chapel in our church, there is a painting of "The Second Coming" in which Christ is surrounded by angels trumpeting and it really looks like they have wings in that painting. This is a painting my son and many other primary children love to stare at and I am sure they see wings when they look at it. I really don't see what it would hurt putting wings on the primary kids if this painting hangs in the chapel.
  5. I seen Josie at the store. No, you SAW her!
  6. Yes, made it to the temple--just received endowments and was sealed Saturday to my hubby and son in the Boise Temple! Woohooo! Feel free to PM me. I'm sure we have a lot to share. I wanted to hurry things up too, but I needed that full year to learn, mature and appreciate what the temple is about. After going, I realized that I would not have been ready for it when I was complaining about the wait 3 months into the church.
  7. I know what you mean. I found this site researching what people think about wearing their garments. I was having a hard time getting used to it the first day, but I love it now. Probably too much info, but I relate to what you said. :) Some things you don't want to share in Relief Society! :)
  8. Woohoo! Welcome to the forum and the church! I'm new to both too (baptized Feb 2010)! So happy for you! Congrats!
  9. Thanks Vort!
  10. I can't help but smile! When I started reading the Book of Mormon, I couldn't get over the number of times it said "it came to pass". The further in you get, the less you see that phrase. Keep going. It is a wonderful book! It is a great introduction to our faith. If/when you decide to go further, missionaries can teach you more about the whole plan of salvation. There is more to the church, than just the Book of Mormon. It is proof that Joseph Smith was a prophet and that he restored Christ's Church on earth. If you choose to pray, and you receive confirmation from the Holy Ghost that this book is true, then you will know that any other revelation Joseph Smith received, that has been documented, is true. Our church is about uniting families. It is beautiful, and I encourage you to keep an open mind and heart. It could be the best thing that ever happened to you.
  11. Hi. My hubby and I converted to the church about a year ago. Each of us is the first generation to join the church. We just received our endowments and were sealed with our 4-yr-old son this weekend. It was the happiest day of our lives. It was amazing knowing that we were committing to eternity. Just found this site while looking for other peoples' answers to my questions. This seems to be a safe site to browse around. When I did general searches online with my questions, I kept ending up finding my topics in ex-mormon forums...angry people, and I do feel sorry for them. Anyway...that's my introduction. I'll be around.
