Vaticanus's Achievements

  1. I chose the name vaticanus because I believe in prophecy, and the name is associated with being in a place where prophecy is made, usually by an oracle. I use it because that place happens to be the church I belong to, the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. We have a prophet and seer and so I believe it fits much more so than the meaning of an wonderful but authoritatively empty building of prominence in the Roman Peninsula. I grew up in Berlin Germany and came to US as a young teen and lived in the coal fields of Virginia. Later I joined the church as an older teen and served a mission in Peru, Arequipa. I love Europe, but also love the country I have adopted as my own. While I was the only member of the church in my family when I joined, I am blessed with a wonderful wife and children who are members. My son now serves a mission in Toronto Canada. I love talking about stuff....
  2. The Bank office is still there inside Pavilions, and they built a Wells Fargo bank outside by the gas station too.
  3. I would suggest reading "Counseling with Councils" by Ballard. It goes into great detail on running an effective and when necessary confidential meeting.
  4. LOL, San Diego Mission then. Stetched from Mission Viejo to National City (North to South), and from San Diego to Yuma Arizona and Blythe. One huge chunk of real estate, but small when I arrived at my Peru, Arequipa Mission.
  5. I too am somewhat surprised by the Temple announcement in Tijuana, though I can see the reason for it logistically. I would think that it would be built in nearby Mexicali before it would be built in Tijuana, but then, I was surprised East Berlin allowed a temple and had one built before West Berlin. I think the influence of such a place will be positive, however I recall the Temple in Monterrey has issues with the crime in its area and so often finds itself closed due to the violence. Remember in Tijuana they sometimes hang the heads of the assassinated or murdered upon bridges through the city. In the distant future, when people look back at the spiritual words and scriptures written in our times, the Gaddianton may indeed be identified in that wonderful, country going through very difficult times. The Mexican people bear much, let us hope one day they will be equally blessed.
  6. I also served in the Mission Viejo area for a short period roughly thirty one years ago when it was part of the San Diego Mission (I was a holdover waiting to go to who knows where at the time). I eventually ended up in Peru.
  7. First time posting here and thought I would offer a big hello from Mission Viejo California. I chose the pseudonym "vaticanus" not for its Catholic implication (a religion I greatly admire and respect) but for its root meaning of adoption of an oracle or seer. As a convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I have adopted to follow the seer and prophet of Christ upon the earth. About me in general, a fifty year old dad of three who married up (as do so many successful men I have known). I feel lucky to have them in my life.
